There have been many interpretations of the slope shoulder dreadnought throughout the years. While we've encountered many different designs and adaptations throughout the years, Dana Bourgeois' take is by far one of the best! We commissioned this particular custom model to be built with a European Spruce top. We have ordered more and more guitar with European Spruce tops, and are always blown away with the depth and sparkle they exhibit. Knowing the research, effort, and determination Dana has to be ever improving - there is little wonder why this guitar tops our list!
Bourgeois' Advanced Slope D is only about 1/4" wider than their standard dreadnought, but the difference is incredible! Voiced for a more open and airy sound than a square shoulder dread, the Advanced Slope D is capable of a variety of styles - from bluegrass (look to Bryan Sutton and his Bourgeois) to fingerstyle blues to pop rhythms. The change from Adirondack to European Spruce is ideal if you find Adirondack a tad too stiff for your playing hand. While it's stiffer than Sitka, boasting more headroom and increased volume, it is still effortlessly responsive to even light fingerstyle. But, where this darlin' really shines is on a straight ahead open chord progression. Dynamic, broad, and bellowing; the Advanced Slope D is a store favorite!
