Bourgeois' Standard Dreadnought features the same appointments as the Vintage D with the exception of the Master Grade Sitka Spruce Top. Because of the Sitka Spruce top this guitar is a player's dream, offering great tonal response, impressive versatility, with superb balance. Sitka Spruce is a great flatpicking tonewood, though it is highly responsive and is great for fingerstyle playing as well. This is a perfect compromise for many players who are looking for the most versatility out of a tonewood.

This Bourgeois Standard D has Indian Rosewood back and sides. Rosewood provides a deep, extended low end when compared to mahogany and certainly shines when combined with Dana's masterfully tuned Sitka top. The result is a Standard D that is very loud and extremely well balanced. The low end is clear, distinct and incredibly powerful, without sacrificing the strong high end. Headroom seems unlimited, very typical of Dana Bourgeois dreadnoughts... the louder it is strummed the louder it plays! Lead lines are powerful and clear.

The Standar D also features fine appointments such as herringbone top trim, ivoroid body binding, long pattern square and diamonds inlays, zipper backstrip, vintage tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage-style top toner, and nickel Waverly tuners.
