Testimonial: National El Trovador

Bill,

The National arrived here very quickly indeed! The Fed Ex guy managed to drop it out of the back of the truck, according to our shop manager, glad I didn’t see that. Gave it a day to stabilise before opening.

Firstly, could you give a lesson in packing guitars for international delivery to every other guitar shop in North America. Even with dropping the case on its end, thanks to your packaging, the guitar was safe and played pretty much in tune when I opened it!

The El Trouv’ or Jean as she is now known, in memory of my mother who died recently, is a totally different beast to my other National and old Regals.  Lovely bright yet deep tone with what seems to be a bit of an inbuilt delay pedal, she sure impressed the rest of the guys in the band.

Thanks for the great service Bill, I really think National are making some truly great guitars at the moment, and your service has been outstanding

Kindest regards,

A.R. / Scotland

Testimonial: Collings Custom Bubble Maple MT2 Mandolin

Hello Bill, Adam, and Ellie,

First off I would like to apologize for taking so touch base with you and thank you for the beautiful Collings MT2 "Bubble Maple" Mandolin. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your website to see a big red Sold before the description.

I received it on February 15th and I can't tell you how much I enjoy the crisp sound. The beginning of February was a great month as I finally received my "19" Collings C-10 Custom Deluxe on the 8th.

Mark from Collings called and let me know it was on its way the 3rd. He then called and said I need to look at MT2. I said "I never played Mandolin" He said "You should start and it should be on this one." With that said he connected me to your fine establishment and all of you made it such a fantastic experience.

So to say I've been a little caught up in my own little world is just an excuse (albeit a good one) for being impolite. I look forward to many conversations further on up the road. I attached a couple of pictures for some laughs.

Thanks Again

Testimonial: Kodiak & Pro-Pik Thumb Pick Comparison

Hello Adam,

I received these picks on Tuesday the 3rd.  Unfortunately I had been too busy with kids and work to try them out until last night (a challenging feat).  I immediately fell in love with the Kodiak, it's comfort, ease of adjustability, design and materials is flawless.  I have never before had any luck using a thumbpick and this one feels natural and took no time to adjust to.  Great buy!!

The Propick finger-tones are also a huge hit.  I have not yet trimmed my natural nails as I have some classical performances next week, but even with the nails these worked wonderfully on my resonator and the size is perfect.  Another brilliantly thought out invention.

My only issue I am having would be with the two Propick thumbpicks, they are much too large.  Apparently my thumb is quite skinny in diameter as even the above mentioned Kodiak is almost a bit too large.  I attempted to manipulate the Propicks thumb enclosure, but due to there being too much material, I cannot get it comfortable.  I do however really like the tone and craftsmanship put into the two picks and am planning on ordering them again from you guys in order to try a more proper fit.

The only reason why I am planning on this is due to the fact that at times I would like to get the metal on metal tones that the Kodiak cannot produce.

Again I thank you so much for answering my previous questions via telephone and definitely appreciate the visitors brochure that you sent with the picks.  I would love to visit.

Thanks,
EC

Testimonial: National Single Cone Collegian – Review

Dear Bill & Ellie,
I am really enjoying my National Reso Collegian.   I've come to the conclusion, that for my playing, that it's the best reso I've ever owned.  The tricone was refined and sweet but lacked bark and growl.  The ResoRocket was in your face and tends to be a harsher sound and hard to get a sweetness or warmth from it.
What I like about the Collegian is that it can do all: bark and growl and sweetly sing.  I guess the materials composition and soundhole design are such that it has just the right amount of depth and warmth.  Really nice product and very versatile.
But what sold me on it was the sound clip.  That's really an effective and valuable way to communicate... In fact, without that, I probably wouldn't have purchased the guitar.
