Like you, all of the folks at Carr Amplifiers are guitarists. They share your love of the guitar, and feel very fortunate to build amplifiers for a living at their shop in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Carr amplifiers feature unique circuit designs, meticulous point-to-point construction, premium components and hand-crafted cabinets. Discerning guitarists continue to enthusiastically embrace the tone, reliability and versatile nature of Carr amplifiers. Carr views guitar amps as being as much an instrument as the guitar itself, and we truly believe that an amplifier should become a personal extension of every player. Inspired by mid 60s Princeton Reverb type amps the Carr Sportsman combines useable features in a compact and portable package.

6 Tube operation utilizing 3) 12AX7, 1) 12AT7, 2) 6V6GT  Controls

Volume – Treble – Mid (with extended range) – Bass – Reverb – Headroom

The sonic vibe is classic clean to medium 60s overdrive.

Volume levels using the Headroom control range from bedroom to club.

Dual partial fixed bias 6V6s generate 19 watts and do not require bias adjustment when replacing tubes.  100% tube driven Carr lush Reverb.

Carr's exclusive power attenuating circuit enables the Mercury to be played at 8, 2, 1/2 and only 1/10 watts, with no appreciable change in tone, yet the Mercury easily yields enough clean headroom for club work. The 40 watt Slant 6V offers an impressive range of legendary American and British tones, and unprecedented versatility and usable power without sacrificing the warmth, clarity and handbuilt, all-tube tone that are the hallmark of Carr amplifiers. At the heart of the Slant 6V are two independent, foot-switchable channels: Channel One bridges our shimmering clean tone with gutbucket, overdriven blues, while the dual gain settings on Channel Two offer pure tube crunch, soaring sustain and fluid dynamic response.

The Slant 6V can be operated at half-power in cathode bias (18W) or fixed bias mode (22W), yielding tones reminiscent of early tweed and AC-style combos in cathode mode, and a punchier, more tightly defined sound in fixed bias mode. And at full power, the Slant 6V runs four 6V6 output tubes split in cathode and fixed bias pairs, placing every conceivable classic tube tone at your fingertips.

This 2002 amp has a few tears in the grill cloth, shown in the photographs.  There are some rips and scuffs on the corners, also pictured.  The carry handle shows some wear.

Carr Amplifiers Viceroy 1x12 Cream

The 6L6 Viceroy is biased deeply into Class A, yielding a pushed, ready-to-jump feel. The vibe from The Viceroy is explosive and forward-tilting. It distorts very well in a large curd Tweedish way when cranked. The clean tone is gorgeous and dimensional. The 1x12 is wonderfully compact.

Features include reverb, two power levels (33 or 7 watts), variable drive control (internal clean boost which gives the amp more push and OD when the mp is turned up - you can hear more of the winding on strings and dynamic, super twang), lastly a footswitchable fixed boost (partial tone stack bypass), which greatly increases midrange punch and yields a wonderful grind - the volume increase is just right for a solo or if the amp is really overdriving it thickens and adds sustain (lighted footswitch included).

Controls include volume, treble, mid (with panel on/off for boost), bass, reverb, drive, and power level.

3 watts, 3 knobs, two distinct personalities. The Raleigh is a versatile practice/studio amp designed to deliver both pristine clean and heavily overdriven tones at usable volumes. The Raleigh's styling pays homage to the funky practice amps of the late 50s and early 60s.

Long before the birth of Carr Amplifiers, Steve Carr spent years playing, repairing, modifying and intently listening to classic guitar amps. The Rambler was one of his earliest signature designs, and today it is still one of the most popular models. Why? It's no accident that the Rambler succeeds in delivering classic American 'deluxe' tone with dramatically expanded clean headroom, solid bass response and the option of 28 watt pentode or 14 watt triode operation. The Rambler simply reflects Steve's desire to improve and refine the original concept of an appropriately powered 1x12 club amp with reverb and tremolo. Rambler owners describe their amps as being warm, full and round, with a surprisingly high threshold of clean tone, (which also makes the Rambler uniquely suited to virtually any overdrive pedal ever built). This pre-owned amp has a tear in the bottom right side of the tweed speaker grill.  There are assorted scuffs and scratches, as the detail photographs will indicate.  The carry handle shows wear.

The Carr Mini-Mercury has the same electronics as the standard 1x12" Mercury but differs in its smaller cabinet and its warm and smoky 10 inch Eminence Lil Buddy hemp cone speaker. The cabinet measures a friendly 19.5" wide by 15" tall by 10" deep at the bottom sloping to 9" deep on the top. This is 2 inches shorter and 1 3/4 inches narrower than the standard 1x12" Mercury making it very compact.
