National ResoLectric Biscayne Blue with a Lollar P90

From time to time we are privileged to receive custom or "One-Off" instruments from National ResoPhonic, and every single time we are simply blown away with their quality and choice of appointments, or in this case the Finish! When we first opened the case of this Custom ResoLectric we were mesmerized by the very mellow yet hypnotic Biscayne Blue finish. To compliment the finish National also finished the headstock in Biscayne Blue which we believe compliments the finish perfectly. We have seen many of the standard burst Resolectric's and Revolver's here in our shop and would have never thought about this guitar in blue, but we are incredibly pleased to have this unique guitar in the shop and hope to see more like it in the future! Biscayne Blue, for you classic car aficionados, was part of the paint line up for the 1954 Chevy line up, and as you can see, is a gorgeous shade of deep, almost iridescent blue.

The ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. The current model uses an audiophile-quality Highlander preamp to mix both the magnetic and piezoelectric pickups. A Jason Lollar P-90 pickup sits in the neck position, and a Highlander piezo transducer is fitted under the saddle. The output of each pickup is controlled by independent volume knobs, with a master volume knob to control the instruments overall output level. A 3-way toggle switch selects which pickups are active. The solid mahogany body is capped with a figured maple top bound in ivoroid and finished off with a  gorgeous pearloid pickguard. The figured maple neck clears 14 frets to the body, highlighted with a diamond inlaid, rosewood fretboard.

The Lollar P90 in the neck has a fat, singing lead voice that is perfectly suited for slide players looking for the ultimate in classic Electric blues tones. The Piezo sounds like an acoustic national, only perfectly amplified. You have a myriad of tones at your fingertips, which makes it easy to switch between a preset rhythm and lead sounds. I do believe I'll dust my broom!

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1999 National ResoLectric

1999 National ResoLectric

National is a constantly evolving company, who is always trying new ideas, reissuing classic models, and pushing the envelope as far as tone is concerned. The National ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. This 1999 Resolectric has a lot of the same quality appoitments as the current National ResoLectric, but features a few different appoitments such as a Seymour Duncan P-90, Deluxe Grover Tuners, and an Ivoroid Pickguard.

The tone of the Seymour Duncan P-90 "Soapbar" is similar to that of an old '52 gold top or a '59 ES-330. This Pickup uses hand-fabricated bobbins wire and "flatback" tape as well as Alnico II magnents giving this pickup a deep, rich, and smooth tone. The Piezo sounds like an acoustic national, only perfectly amplified. You have a myriad of tones at your fingertips, which makes it easy to switch between a preset rhythm and lead sounds. Don't worry, The ResoLectric will chase away that Hellhound on your Trail!

This National ResoLectric has assorted dings and scratches as expected from a 10+ year old guitar. The coverplate does have some oxidation and wear. We have made every effort to clean up the cover plate but in some cases the nickel plating has been removed. Original Hardshell Case Included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 National Resotone Seafoam Green

2010 National Resotone Seafoam Green

Dig that crazy color cats! Seafoam green has always been a popular color for other makers, such as Fender, which did feature the color on their Stratocasters from 1960 to 1969; however it was originally seen on the 1956 Buicks!  National has chosen the seafoam green color to show off this beautiful Resotone.

The National ResoTone was designed from the ground up as a simplified version of the Resolectric.  Instead of two pickups, the Resotone features National’s Hotplate Pickup system.  Utilizing a Jason Lollar single coil pickup with passive volume and tone controls, this little baby screams!  The instrument has a solid alder body, with a hard rock maple neck. The unbound rosewood fretboard features mother of pearl position markers for a simple, classy look. The solid angled headstock has a unique shape accentuated by Kluson closed gear tuners.

This pre-owned Resotone is hard to distinguish from new with some very minor scratches on the back near the mounting bolts for the neck. They are so minor; they were unable to be photographed. The original National hardshell case is included.

SOLD: National ResoLectric “Revolver”

National ResoLectric

National is a constantly evolving company, who is always trying new ideas, reissuing classic models, and pushing the envelope as far as tone is concerned. With that in mind, we are proud to introduce the newest member of the National family; The National ResoLectric Revolver! Always an incredibly popular model from National since it's introduction, the  National’s ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. The current model uses an audiophile-quality Highlander preamp to mix both the magnetic and piezoelectric pickups.

A hand wired  Jason Lollar P-90 pickup sits in the neck position, and a Highlander piezo transducer is fitted under the saddle.  From Jason Lollar's website regarding the P90 used in the guitar: "The P-90 everyone is talking about. Scatter wound pickup with de-gaussed Alnico 5 bar magnets. A fatter P-90 tone with smoother treble. Sounds like an old P-90 rather than a new pickup that still has some hard edges. Great for fat clean tone or harder driving rock with more grind."  The output of each pickup is controlled by independent volume knobs, with a master volume knob to control the instruments overall output level. A 3-way toggle switch selects which pickups are active. The solid African Mahogany body is capped with an African Mahogany top bound in ivoroid. The Honduras Mahogany neck clears 14 frets to the body, highlighted with a diamond inlaid, ebony fretboard.

The difference in the Revolver? A stunning matte black finish on the top, back, and sides, matched with ebony tuner buttons, rather than the flamed, sunburst top. The standard issue Pearloid headstock overlay, and pickguard match the new matte black finish to a "T"! Gone is the Sea-foam green badge on the headstock,  in it's place a stark, noirish, Black and Gold National badge to further set the Revolver apart from it's brother.

The Tone? Everything that you expect from the  folks at National. Don't worry, The Revolver will chase away that Hellhound on your Trail!

SOLD: National RA3 Resolectric Acoustic Koa Body Custom Moon and Stars Coverplate

National RA3 Resolectric Acoustic Koa Body Custom Moon and Stars Coverplate

National has an exciting new product that we have been waiting quite impatiently to get out hands on... a ResoLectric Acoustic, RA-3.   This is our second prototype and this exciting new model takes their electric line to the next level, in that the guitar can also be played acoustically, with enough volume and depth to join nearly any acoustic jam.  This new prototype RA-3 has a semi-hollow Koa body with more depth than the traditional ResoLectric guitars, creating a sound chamber while the f-hole allows pure resophonic tone to practically jump out of the instrument without any amplification.  Played acoustically, the Koa body imparts an additional level of clarity and definition to the acoustic tone, with a brighter, yet pleasing,  high end with a punchier mid-range than the maple/mahogany version, which is darker with a more pronounced reverb effect.

Plugged in... the new RA-3 features a hexaphonic pickup system made by LR Baggs. The Hexaphonic pickup consists of six individual brass saddles with built-in piezo pickups. To achieve perfect balance, Baggs created a tripod upon which the string is balanced and supported equally between two raised points at the ends of the bottom of the pickup.  The use of hidden set screws on the underside for these points allow for precise height-adjustable action for each string.

With the RA-3 comes even further innovation... National built the LR Baggs Hex system right into the biscuit with factory intonated slots machined right into the biscuit.  The Hexaphonic pickups are highly regarded for their articulate, responsive, dynamic and warm sound with excellent feedback resistance, something very important when amplifying resophonic instruments where feedback can easily become problematic.   Since each string has it's own individual pickup saddle, the string-to-string balance is unmatched... chords will ring with perfect balance and clarity!

The 2nd pickup is a newly designed Villex Slimline Dual-Coil humbucker and is warm and rich, perfect for blending with the crystal clear string tone that the hexaphonic pickup puts out.  Villex, makers of extremely high quality passive pickup systems for bass guitars, have teamed up with National to design the new single-coil slimline pickup.  You will find Villex pickups on some of the finest bass guitars being made, and now in the finest resonator guitars being made! The pickup has a highly polished coverplate with a National logo stamped into the corner... the ultimate finishing touch!

The 2 pickups are blended via a single volume knob for each pickup for virtually limitless tonal possibilities.

Another innovative feature of the new RA-3 is the neck angle... which is fully adjustable!  This allows each player to tailor the action to suit their own playing style, whether that be strictly slide, fingerstyle, or somewhere in-between.  Increase the angle and you can have the same fast-playing low-action that you are used to on your traditional electric guitars.   Decrease the neck angle and you can play slide through the entire gig with no worries of buzzing.

All the resophonic tones you ever wanted are now right under your fingertips... and you can even unplug and join an acoustic jam with plenty of volume to spare!
