SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2007 Warren Guitars Arlen Roth Signature Model Telecaster Style

2007 Warren Guitars Arlen Roth Signature Model Telecaster Style

The Arlen Roth Signature model made by Warren Guitars is built to Arlen's exacting specs - vintage bridge with solid brass compensated saddle for truer intonation, vintage string spacing and a slightly hotter bridge pickup. When Don Warren met Arlen, he told him of the many attempts other companies had made to recreate the tone and feel of his prized 1953 classic. Don's challenge was to meet those expectations as well as provide the vast array of tones heard on his Classic II.

So here it is...  A guitar that embodies the tones of the golden age, with the addition of beautifully balanced acoustic tone, gut wrenching grind, singing sustain along with all the quack and twang you can imagine. Don states that he is "very proud of this accomplishment and honored to have worked with such a demanding musician that knows he doesn't have to settle and doesn't allow you to either."

This custom model was built with Don's special pickups, which are wound by none other than Mr. Lindy Fralin! The pickups are a vintage tele set, with a reverse wound "Strat" midde pickup. The customization doesn't stop there, the volume knob when pulled up engages the neck pickup in any position, and the tone knob when pulled up, puts the pickups into parallel as opposed to series.

This guitar has some scratches on the pickup selector cover and some marks on the bridge, as shown in the photographs. Original Warren hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: Gibson Music Rising Les Paul Classic #192 of 300 – Commemorative Hurricane Katrina Limited Edition

Gibson Music Rising Les Paul Classic #192 of 300 - Commemorative Hurricane Katrina Limited Edition

Following a visit to New Orleans in November 2005, U2's The Edge announced the unveiling of Music Rising, a campaign to raise funds to replace the lost instruments and accessories of the musicians affected by the hurricanes that devastated the Gulf Coast region. Lead partners Gibson Guitars and Guitar Center Music Foundation spearheaded the initial effort by collaborating on the design, manufacture and sale of an exclusive Gibson guitar with all proceeds going directly to the Music Rising program.

The guitar was available exclusively through Guitar Center. The instrument captures the essence of the Gulf Coast's musical tradition. 300 total were produced with all proceeds benefiting Music Rising and a pledge of $1 million in support. The Gibson Music Rising guitar features hand-painted designs using the colors of Mardi Gras. Each guitar is individually painted and handmade so no two are alike. All of the usual plastic parts (back plate, pick guard, toggle cover, truss rod cover) have been replaced by woods from the States affected by the hurricanes and the Music Rising logo, exclusive to this guitar, is etched into the pick guard.

This guitar looks brand new and has been mostly kept in the case and barely played.  Original hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2008 Fender Highway 1 Strat with Satin Sunburst Finish

2008 Fender Highway 1 Strat with Satin Sunburst Finish

The fender Highway 1 Series Stratocaster features thin-skinned satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, hotter and very distortion-friendly Alnico III pickups, and a reverse-wound, reverse-polarized middle pickup for better hum canceling.  The Highway 1 Strat carries on the tradition with a fast-playing one-piece maple neck, but adds a rosewood fingerboard. In keeping with contemporary player preferences, the neck is finished in a smooth satin polyurethane.

The satin nitrocellulose finish allows the alder body to resonate freely, delivering crisp, glossy tones and maximum sustain thanks to the three vintage style single coil Strat pickups. A three-ply white pickguard maintains the classic Strat look. The vintage style synchronized tremolo allows you to bend notes or entire chords up or down with ease, without creating the tuning problems inherent in other designs.

The original Strat had three single coil pickups, so it was able to produce sounds that no other guitar could deliver, particularly once players discovered they could lodge the three-position blade switch in those "in-between" positions to access neck / middle and bridge / middle pickup combinations. These were often erroneously referred to as the "out-of-phase" settings. The Highway One Strats have made it easy to access all the pickup combinations thanks to the modern five-way blade pickup selector switch. The three vintage style single coil pickups deliver all the "spank" and sparkle the Strat is justly famous for.

There are a few dents in the body, as shown in the detail photographs.  There is no visible fretwear.  Gig-bag included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1964 Vintage Gibson SG Special Polaris White

1964 Vintage Gibson SG Special Polaris White

The Gibson SG was introduced in 1961 when Gibson gave the Les Paul a thinner, flat-topped mahogany body and a double cutaway, while also moving the neck joint by three frets,  making the upper notes more accessible.

The new Gibson model featured a slimmer neck profile and a virtually non-existent heel.  Gibson advertised the new SG as having the "fastest neck in the world."  Despite overwhelming popularity, Les Paul requested his named be dropped and Gibson honored his request, naming the new design the "SG," which stood for "Solid Guitar."

Some of the most famous guitar players of all time have played Gibson SG model guitars... Eric Clapton, Angus Young, and Tony Iommi are among the most recognized.

This "SG Special" features the Soapbar P-90 pickups with the original small 3-layer pickguard.  The "Polaris White" finish has held up incredibly well, with a small bit of finish checking and only a few chips.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1995 Gibson ES-135 Thinline Semi-Hollow with Cutaway

1995 Gibson ES-135 Thinline Semi-Hollow with Cutaway

The Gibson ES-135 is a semi-hollow body electric guitar made by the Gibson Guitar Corporation. Introduced in 1991, it was discontinued in 2002.

With a florentine cutaway, a trapeze tailpiece, two P-100 pickups (stacked humbuckers with P-90 covers) with two tone and volume controls and a three-way switch. It had looks and tone reminiscent of the old ES-125 TDC, but was not a fully hollow thinline guitar, having a feedback-suppressing sustain block running under the pickups and bridge from the neck/body joint to the base of the body like the ES-335.

The body itself and neck were again of similar construction to the ES-335, being built from laminated maple but with an unbound rosewood fingerboard with dot-style fret position markers. The metal fittings were chrome-plated, and the p-100s had black plastic “soapbar” style covers.  At launch, Gibson claimed it was the first semi-solid electric guitar with a Florentine-style single cutaway in the world.

This guitar has a few chips on the headstock, as shown in the photographs.  There are some chips at the base of the neck block, also shown in the photograph.  There is some finish hazing on the rear upper bout which is not able to be photographed.  There are a few dings on the rear lower bout, as shown in the  photograph.  There was a chip on the first inlay dot that has been filled in.  It has been recently setup by Richard Starkey in the Nashville area for .11 gauge strings.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1961 Vintage Fender Precision Bass

1961 Vintage Fender Precision Bass

The fender Precision Bass is one of the most recognized basses of all time... heard on countless classic and modern recordings and instantly recognized for it's "larger than life" stratocaster style appearance.  The strat design was adopted to the P-Bass in 1957; the headstock and pickguard were redesigned to closely resemble Fender's recently introduced, ultra-modern Stratocaster, with a rounder neck heel replacing the original square shape introduced in 1951.  The headstock and body shape look like oversized, blown up versions of the now famous strat design.

The early adoption of the P-Bass was in part due to Bill Black's ownership of the instrument. Black was beginning to use a Precision Bass during the filming of Jailhouse Rock. Fender also delivered an early Precision to LA session bassist and arranger Shifty Henry.  The upright bass was considered difficult to play in tune, physically cumbersome and difficult to transport. It was becoming hard to hear in increasingly large bands or in bands that included amplified electric guitars. With electric pickups, a small body and fretted neck, the Precision Bass overcame these problems. The name "Precision" came from the use of frets (as opposed to the fretless fingerboard of the double bass); players of the electric instruments could play in tune much more easily - they could play with "precision."

The Precision Bass produces a timbre that differs quite drastically from that of the double bass: it is a more focused, harder-edged sound, with less percussive thump and a more clearly articulated fundamental tone. By bringing the sound of the bass up in a band, the bass became more dominant in its role and transformed the beat and rhythm of pop music. The electric bass allowed driving rhythms while still outlining harmonic structures and is essential to the evolution from jump blues and swing to rhythm and blues and rock music, and today the P-Bass is still used regularly in any genre requiring the use of an electric bass guitar.

This 1961 P-Bass features a 4 layer pickguard with a top tortoise shell layer over a three-color sunburst body, which is well checked and oozes vintage style!  The pickups are the '57 style split-coil design with staggered polepieces, connected in a humbucking mode, although fender never bragged about this, as the patents for the humbucking pickups had not yet expired at the time. These pickups greatly reduced the magnetic hum of the previous design. The neck features a rosewood fingerboard, introduced in 1959, glued onto a maple neck with "clay" style dot position markers.  The rosewood neck replaced the one-piece maple neck used previously and became the standard until '66/67 when laminates were introduced.

As the photos will show, this bass has some wear throughout, though nothing that will affect playability.  The finish nicely checked and rubbed off in all the right places.  The pickguard has 2 cracked edges and is missing a portion around the screw on the lower bout.  The bridge cover is included in the case and has the original foam, although the foam shows a bit of age.  2 Pickguard cover screws have been replaced.  There is a crack in the pickguard from the pickup route.  The nut has been removed and re-glued.  There are approx 37 spots of "brushed on" touch-up.   The neck side-to-side is off, due to a tight neck joint... this will not affect playability for most players.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2007 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman G6122-1962 with String Dampers

2007 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman G6122-1962 with String Dampers

Think back to the classic 60's rock song "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" by Herman's Hermits and try to imagine how you would replicate that unique guitar sound.  It's a tone we haven't heard much since that decade and was made possible thanks to a Gretsch Country Gentleman with the string dampers activated, a feature not possible even on most Country Gentlemans.

This Professional Series G6122 has those exact style of string dampers, one for the bass strings and one for the treble strings which rest in between the bridge and the treble pickup.  Each can be raised so that they touch the strings, created that famous "half-muted" sound, just like on the Hermits track.

The Gentleman itself debuted in mid-1957, after considerable input from Chet Atkins.  The Closed body was a concession to Atkins, who was reportedly hounding  Gretsch to produce a semi-hollow guitar with a solid block through the center capable of more sustain with less feedback.  The Gentleman is a compromise, containing only a partial block down the center with sealed, imitation f-holes.

The FilterTron pickups feature dual-coils that are designed to "filter" out the electronic hum normally associated with single-coil pickups, while adding a warmer tone and a significantly increasing the output and sustain. This guitar was originally designed in conjunction with Chet Atkins for his particular playing and sound.

From driving rhythm to ripping leads, the classic double-cutaway G6122-1962 Country Gentleman has it all! Features include dual High Sensitive Filter'Tron™ pickups, "tone switch" circuitry, "action-flow" neck, double mutes, back pad and Bigsby® B6G vibrato tailpiece.  This is the real thing, or at least as close as a modern guitar can get!  Nothing else comes close for that cool swing, hip rockabilly or twanging' country sound.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2007 PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Body

2007 PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Body

The SE Custom Semi-Hollow has the same basic appointments as the SE Custom--mahogany back, maple top, 22-fret wide-fat mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and SE humbucking pickups. The addition of a hollow chamber and modern f-hole give it a musical midrange and internal reverb making this a very light, comfortable and versatile guitar.  The SE Custom Semi-Hollow is PRS' very first semi-hollow SE model guitar. All of the same features of the SE Custom are now available in a light-weight semi-hollow package featuring a unique pallet of colors.

Originally meaning Hot, Fat and Screams, the HFS pickup features a powerful ceramic magnet and hot coils for an aggressive tone when cranked, clear highs, searing midrange and thumping bass.

The SE Custom semi-hollow produces a wide range of tonal possibilities enhanced by a variety of switching options including master volume, master tone, and 3-way toggle pickup selector.

The Wide Fat neck has the same nut width as the Wide Thin neck but has a big comfortable profile, similar to PRS's Regular neck. Because of its strength and longer "heel," the Wide Fat neck produces warm tones with lots of sustain.

Designed to take full advantage of the resonant properties of their guitars, PRS's Stoptail Bridge provides direct transmission of string vibration to the guitar body and makes set-up a breeze. First used in 1991 on the PRS Dragon I guitar, it now appears on almost half of all PRS guitars sold. This bridge features slots that recess the strings comfortably as they pass over the top, in a gentle curve. Although it is pre-compensated for modern string gauges, fine-tuning is possible by adjusting the set screws at each end of the bridge.

PRS finishes their instruments with a polyester basecoat and acrylic urethane topcoat. Acrylic urethane looks and feels the closest to the old nitro-cellulose finishes but without the finish checking.

This guitar has a blemish on the tip of the headstock, as shown in the photo.  Otherwise, it is difficult to distinguish from new.  Padded gig-bag included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2006 Heritage Golden Eagle Hollow Body Archtop

2006 Heritage Golden Eagle Hollow Body Archtop

The idea to start Heritage Guitar began when the Gibson Guitar Corporation closed its Kalamazoo, Michigan factory in September of 1984 and moved all production to its other plant in Nashville, Tennessee (in operation since 1975). When this took place, some of the employees were asked to move to Nashville. However, since their families had spent many years in Kalamazoo, it made it difficult to uproot and move. Therefore 3 men, Jim Deurloo, Marvin Lamb, and JP Moats, decided to start a guitar manufacturing business. In 1985 when the company was incorporated, 2 other former Gibson Guitar Corporation employees, Bill Paige and Mike Korpak, joined as owners. Mike left the company in 1985.

The founders biggest resource is and was the group of craftsmen they could draw from to begin operations. The owners themselves each had in excess of 25 years of hands on experience in making guitars. To this day each of the owners is directly involved in the manufacturing of each instrument.

Heritage started operations in the oldest of five buildings formerly owned and operated by Gibson Guitar Corporation. That building was completed in 1917 and has been a center for guitar manufacturing ever since. Much of the machinery that Heritage uses today, was purchased from Gibson Guitar Corporation.

The Golden Eagle is a classic model in the Heritage lineup. Each guitar is constructed with a solid carved spruce top and solid carved maple back and sides. The Golden Eagle showcases the quintessential, straight ahead, unplugged jazz tone, while this model with the pickup installed, makes for a killer electric jazz box as well. Notes ring with rich, warm lows, pronounced mids, and mellow highs. This guitar definitely holds its own and works beautifully for that Freddie Green style rhythm. The body, fingerboard, headstock, and f-holes are all bound. The fingerboard is inlaid with gorgeous MOP clouds. The natural antique finish allows for the spruce and stellar figuring of the maple to show through and speak for itself.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1996 Epiphone Casino VT-NA Hollow Body

1996 Epiphone Casino VT-NA Hollow Body

The most famous Epiphone model introduced by Gibson after taking over was the Casino. The Casino was made in the same shape and configuration as a Gibson ES-330 guitar. It has a very heavy sound and is a very good rhythm guitar due to its fairly thick sound when strummed. It is a genuine hollow body electric guitar with single coil P90 pickups.

The Casino is famous for being used by The Beatles. Paul McCartney was the first to acquire one and John Lennon and George Harrison followed suit soon after. Paul McCartney used his for the solo in Taxman and the Casino sound is very prevalent throughout Revolver and their later albums. John Lennon made his Casino one of his main guitars and used it for the rest of his time with the Beatles and into the 70s. Paul still uses his Casino, which has a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, in concert and studio today.

This guitar has the pre-lawsuit Bigsby style tremolo bar.

This Epiphone has held up nicely with only minimal playing wear consistent with it's age.  It is sold as-is.
