SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2005 Fender 1951 NoCaster Closet Classic Telecaster with Callaham Vintage T Hardware Kit

2005 Fender 1951 NoCaster Closet Classic Telecaster with Callaham Vintage T Hardware Kit

This forerunner of the Telecaster was first named the "Broadcaster," but Fender had to remove the decals because of a conflict with Gretsch's registered "BroadKaster" name. So collectors dubbed it the "Nocaster." This Closet Classic version looks like it has gracefully aged since '51.

This recreation of a Fender classic features an ash body, a hefty U-shaped maple neck, single-ply black pickguard and original spec pickups. The Fender 51 NoCaster Closet Classic Guitar is painstakingly recreated right down to the finest detail, including the paint “halo” beneath the pickguard.  This guitar features Fender's “Closet Classic” treatment—built as if it was bought new in its respective model year, played maybe a few times per year and then carefully put away. It has a few small dings, a mildly checked finish, lightly oxidized hardware and aged plastic parts.

This guitar has been "modded" to feature the Callaham Vintage "T" Hardware kit. Bill Callaham is one of the industry leaders in period recreations  of old Tele and Strat parts with modern features, such as compensated saddles, and true "Bakelite" pickguards. The controls  feature a Callaham Pre-wired T Model Control Plate Assembly, as well as the Callaham Vintage T Model Tele Bridge Assembly. The Bridge features 3 brass compensated saddles, for a completely adjustable, and intonated bridge!  This particular instrument  also includes Callaham's  "dome" knurled knobs, reminiscent of  Danny Gatton's stylistic guitar.

This guitar is difficult to distinguish from new.  Non-Original Hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1989 Tom Anderson Classic Strat Style Tobacco Sunburst

1989 Tom Anderson Classic Strat Style Tobacco Sunburst

Tom Anderson has been revered for building the kind of instruments that stand up to the needs of professional gigging and studio musicians.  The Classic is the vintage guitar of your wildest dreams—and beyond—the one you always knew should exist but you were unable to touch in physical form...until now.  The Classic is vintage body and neck woods with classic pickguard styling featuring 2 single coil pickups and a humbucker at the bridge.

For a pure vintage vibe, a Swamp Ash body is hand-selected and kiln dried to perfection.  Swamp ash is open and ethereal, delicate, airy and complex.  Soft, soothing open middle frequencies lay the groundwork to showcase rich lows; highlighted with sparkling and softly sweet, musical highs.

One of the primary assets that makes a dream guitar a dream guitar is the way the neck feels as you wrap around it.  The Classic facilitates its now-legendary, effortless, buttered-lightning playability—so it is a fit of perfection for you. The birdseye maple neck also is true to vintage form with real clay dot inlays, just like the original Strats!

This almost impeccable late 80's model has one feature that you will no longer find on Tom's fine guitars-an older type headstock that correctly mimics the instruments they are based on. This guitar features a Floyd Rose locking tremolo system so you can stay in tune through virtually any kind of whammy bar abuse! Fine tuners allow for the ultimate in precision tuning.

This guitar features 2 single coil pickups (SN1 and SN2) along with an H2 humbucker at the bridge.  The humbucker is characterized by ample amounts of lows and highs while still having plenty of midrange power, never squashed or narrow—always big, full and robust.  More specifically, the H2 is Medium hot and nicely balanced for mid power supported by clarity and thump.

Tom Anderson guitars also feature 2 strap buttons at the bottom of the body so that when the guitar doesn't fall over when leaned up against a wall.  Many players may also find either strap button more comfortable, depending on their playing style.

There are some very fine, minor finish scratches throughout the body of this guitar.  There are a few dents, pictured in the detail photographs and some scuff marks along the bottom of the body.  60's era brown tolex case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1998 Gretsch G6120TM Chet Atkins Hollow Body

1998 Gretsch G6120TM Chet Atkins Hollow Body

From Chet to Bo, and from The Reverend Horton Heat to Brain Setzer, the Gretsch sound has defined rock and roll, country, and rockabilly. This modern version of the classic 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar features a 16"-wide, 2.5"-deep full hollow body, rock maple neck, ebony fingerboard with Neo-Classic "thumbnail" inlays, dual High Sensitive Filter'Tron pickups, Grover Rotomatic machine heads, Adjusto-Matic bridge, and Bigsby B6G vibrato tailpiece.

The Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body is the one that started it all. When Gretsch approached Chet--already on his way to "legendary" status--in 1954 about designing his own model, the 6120 was the result, and it quickly became one of the company's most popular models. The 6120 was present at the birth of Rock 'n' Roll, and remains a favorite to this day among players of all ages and musical genres. Today, Gretsch is proud to offer a stable of 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar that are fully equipped and ready to rock!

The FilterTron pickup features dual-coils that are designed to "filter" out the electronic hum normally associated with single-coil pickups, while adding a warmer tone and a significantly increasing the output and sustain. This guitar was originally designed in conjunction with Chet Atkins for his particular playing and sound. This guitar achieves Chet personal touches, at a workingman's price.

With its eye-opening tiger flame maple top, sides and back, the G6120TM is a real stunner. This Guitar features the classic combination of Filter-tron's and a Bigsby. There is no other guitar that can copy this sound. Nothing comes close for that cool swing, hip rockabilly or twanging' country.

This guitar shows some oxidation on the gold hardware, common for a guitar this age.  There is light finish scratching on the front and back that could not be photographed.  There are a few tiny marks on the headstock, shown in the photograph.  Hardshell case included.

National ResoLectric Electric Resophonic Guitar

National’s ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. The current model uses an audiophile-quality Highlander preamp to mix both the magnetic and piezoelectric pickups. SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2007 Warren Guitars Arlen Roth Signature Model Telecaster Style

2007 Warren Guitars Arlen Roth Signature Model Telecaster Style

The Arlen Roth Signature model made by Warren Guitars is built to Arlen's exacting specs - vintage bridge with solid brass compensated saddle for truer intonation, vintage string spacing and a slightly hotter bridge pickup. When Don Warren met Arlen, he told him of the many attempts other companies had made to recreate the tone and feel of his prized 1953 classic. Don's challenge was to meet those expectations as well as provide the vast array of tones heard on his Classic II.

So here it is...  A guitar that embodies the tones of the golden age, with the addition of beautifully balanced acoustic tone, gut wrenching grind, singing sustain along with all the quack and twang you can imagine. Don states that he is "very proud of this accomplishment and honored to have worked with such a demanding musician that knows he doesn't have to settle and doesn't allow you to either."

This custom model was built with Don's special pickups, which are wound by none other than Mr. Lindy Fralin! The pickups are a vintage tele set, with a reverse wound "Strat" midde pickup. The customization doesn't stop there, the volume knob when pulled up engages the neck pickup in any position, and the tone knob when pulled up, puts the pickups into parallel as opposed to series.

This guitar has some scratches on the pickup selector cover and some marks on the bridge, as shown in the photographs. Original Warren hardshell case included.

Gibson Music Rising Les Paul Classic #192 of 300 - Commemorative Hurricane Katrina Limited Edition

Following a visit to New Orleans in November 2005, U2's The Edge announced the unveiling of Music Rising, a campaign to raise funds to replace the lost instruments and accessories of the musicians affected by the hurricanes that devastated the Gulf Coast region. Lead partners Gibson Guitars and Guitar Center Music Foundation spearheaded the initial effort by collaborating on the design, manufacture and sale of an exclusive Gibson guitar with all proceeds going directly to the Music Rising program.

The instrument captures the essence of the Gulf Coast's musical tradition. 300 total were produced with all proceeds benefiting Music Rising and a pledge of $1 million in support. The Gibson Music Rising guitar features hand-painted designs using the colors of Mardi Gras. Each guitar is individually painted and handmade so no two are alike. All of the usual plastic parts (back plate, pick guard, toggle cover, truss rod cover) have been replaced by woods from the States affected by the hurricanes and the Music Rising logo, exclusive to this guitar, is etched into the pick guard.

SOLD: Collings City Limits Deluxe Iced Tea Sunburst and Jason Lollar Humbuckers

Collings City Limits Deluxe Iced Tea Sunburst and Jason Lollar Humbuckers

Bill Collings has been making some of the most highly regarded acoustic guitars in the world for quite some time, so when he decided to build electric guitars, musicians were chomping at the bit to see what would happen. The flawless construction, the incredible attention to detail, and the Collings quality are all here. Collings has redesigned a classic guitar with players in mind and the now famous meticulous construction, and attention to detail is nothing short of astonishing. This City Limits Deluxe with Flamed Maple top, is the ultimate Les Paul and with Lollar Humbuckers, this guitar was born for rock and roll!

From Collings' website: "Crafted with the finest seasoned maple and mahogany, the CL Deluxe is built for tone. Lightweight, resonant mahogany combined with a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon neck joint bring tonal complexity and sustain to the table in spades. Sleekly contoured for comfort and style, we've brought new life to an American classic." We, honestly, could not agree more. The CL Deluxe is clearly influenced by classic American solidbodies of the past, and to say they hit their mark is an understatement.

The body is cleverly designed with ergonomic contouring at both sides of the waist. This commonly overlooked feature is quite brilliant, making already effortless playability even more comfortable. Weighing in at a just over 8 lb., the CL Deluxe is easy to manage and perfectly balanced. Whether on the stage or in the studio, the CL Deluxe feels right at home. The neck profile is a well rounded C shape that is unique to the Collings lineup. The neck joint is angled toward the cutaway; following the body lines. This slight change fills your hand in a more natural way, easing the curse that other single cutaway guitars have. Playability is what we have come to expect from a Collings - effortless and untroubled up and down the fingerboard. Combine that with Collings reputation for intonation perfection - and you have a force to be reckoned with.

SOLD: Collings 290 TV Yellow with Jason Lollar P90 Pickups

Collings 290 TV Yellow with Jason Lollar P90 Pickups

The Collings 290 is named after the highway that runs through the Austin hill country and takes you to Collings workshop. Although it may look like a traditional model with it's one "Spanish" cutaway and two P90 pickups , look a little deeper and appreciate the features this guitar brings to the table.

The Body is a select piece of mahogany that has two ergonomic cuts on the back of the guitar, one for the area where the guitar rests against your ribcage and "forms" against it, and one on the lower bout to accommodate sitting down and playing the guitar. The leg cutout makes practicing or doing a session easy as it molds to your leg, and the other, makes standing and playing a gig a pleasure as the guitar fits comfortably against your body.

The Neck joint has been redesigned to join the body on an angle allowing for easy access to the upper frets. The neck joins at the 17th fret on the bass side but on the treble side it joins at the 19th fret. The wood used is select Mahogany that was typically used on the great instruments of the 50's and 60's. This select wood has more mass, and therefore it is more rigid, but responds better than any guitar you have played, and is not in any way "neck heavy."

This custom Collings has a "TV" Yellow finish on the body, and the neck as well. A back story for your consideration: This special yellow color was designed in the 1950s to solve the problem of the color white, under the glare of bright television lights, overpowering the black and white television cameras. Get ready for your close up Mr. Deville, because this guitar belongs on TV!

Collings City Limits Deluxe Tobacco Sunburst with Lollar Humbuckers and Flamed Maple Top

Playability is what we have come to expect from a Collings - effortless and untroubled up and down the fingerboard. Combine that with Collings reputation for intonation perfection - and you have a force to be reckoned with.

Collings has collaborated with Jason Lollar for all their pickups. While the particular pickups they use are specially wound for Collings, they are darn close to his standard Imperial Humbuckers. Lollar manages to capture the airy top end, tight lows, balanced midrange, and complex overtones of the best original PAF pickups. In reviews they are consistently given high marks for their balanced frequency response. Unbalanced coils keep the bottom end tight for the amount of fullness the pickups have, overtones build after each note is played. Alnico 5 magnets are de-gaussed to specific levels, unique to the neck and bridge positions. The sound Collings has developed with these pickups can certainly be described as mature. The neck position pushes out a lovely warmth and depth - ideal for jazz chording or chunky blues. None of the pesky midrange honkiness that can be found with bridge humbuckers is present. The bridge pickup is certainly hotter and more aggressive, but maintains full-bodied presence without any harshness. Use of the individual volume and tone knobs to balance and pair the two pickups against one another yields a practically endless variety of voices and tones.

Collings is renowned for their nitro finishes on acoustic guitars - and the story remains the same here. The finish on the CL Deluxe is nothing short of perfect - incredibly thin and flat as can be. The thin nitro finish allows this guitar to breathe and resonate like the aged vintage pieces of old. The unplugged acoustic qualities the CL Deluxe exhibits are simply remarkable. It's the little considerations like this that will satisfy even the most discerning of vintage fans. The beautiful flamed maple top is hand-sprayed with a flawless tobacco sunburst, featuring just enough red to make it really special.  Aesthetic balance is a bit of a passion for Mr. Bill Collings, and each of his electrics exhibit their own understated style - unique from model to model. The fit and finish of the CL Deluxe may be astonishing to some - but it is what we have come to expect from the folks  at Collings. No detail is left incomplete, yet nothing is overdone or exploited. The body is bound with grained ivoroid, a refreshing change from blindingly stark white plastic, and also features a black and white top purfle. The truss rod cover, tuning buttons, pickup knobs and covers all share this same material - and its one of the many features that set Collings apart.

SOLD: Collings SoCo Deluxe Dark Cherry Sunburst with Lollar Humbuckers

Hear This Instrument: Collings SoCo Deluxe and Carr Rambler 1x15
Recorded In-House on a Sony PCM-D50 handheld recorder with no compression or eq. Rambler set at 14 watts Triode mode and EQ set flat. Volume at 9:00 with a touch of reverb.
Collings SoCo Deluxe Dark Cherry Sunburst with Lollar Humbuckers

Collings’ website has this to say about the Soco Deluxe: Named after Austin’s funky and eclectic South Congress Avenue, the SoCo Deluxe is all about attitude. This model brings in elements from both the I-35 and CL models to create a unique hybrid that is all its own. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? They couldn’t have said it better. The SoCo Deluxe is slightly larger than the I-35, featuring the same Maple/Mahogany combination. There are no laminate woods here; the top is all solid and meticulously carved by hand. Bill Collings has experience in maximizing the peak resonance of each piece of Maple. The fullness and vibratory resonance, even when unplugged, is, well, incredible. Notes are effortlessly articulated, responding to your ever command. The unique hand set mortise and tenon neck joint reflects Bill Collings philosophy – ingenuity and functionality. The angled shape of the joint fits perfectly in your palm. Reaching for the 21st fret is effortless; unlike any electric we’ve played before.

This was ordered with a Dark Cherry Sunburst finish and it is even more beautiful than we could have imagined... complimenting the gorgeous flamed maple top with sweet hues of deep red and orange.  A custom black and white purfling borders the top, framing the flamed maple like a custom frame does for a priceless piece of art.   A flared headstock at the end of the Rosewood fingerboard completes the package, making this guitar instantly eye-catching... you will be noticed with this guitar!

Collings collaborated with Jason Lollar for all their pickup designs. While the particular pickups they use are specially wound to Collings specifications, they are very near in design to the Lollar standard Imperial Humbucking models. Lollar manages to capture the airy top end, tight lows, balanced midrange, and complex overtones of the best original PAF pickups.

SOLD: Collings I-35 Tobacco Sunburst – Flamed Maple and Mahogany with Lollar Humbuckers

Collings I-35 Tobacco Sunburst - Flamed Maple and Mahogany with Lollar Humbuckers

Bill Collings has reinvigorated the industry with his take on classic design. The I-35 is Collings' reinterpretation of the semi-hollow body, two-pickup guitar.  The first I-35 in Tiger Eye Burst in our shop did not last long  and we are now privileged to offer a classy Tobacco Sunburst finish.

The first customer who tried the I-35 model in our shop was glued to it for nearly 3 hours. You can tell just by playing it acoustically that you have something special in your hands. Plugged into one of our Carr amplifiers, this guitar really screams! You can hear every note in every chord all the way up and down the neck and will hear overtones you never noticed before in tunes you've been playing for years. From soft and sweet to thick and dirty, this guitar is up to the task with a sound is clear, focused, and articulate and sustain that goes on for days.

While the rest of the industry at large uses pressed plywood for their backs, and bent sides, Collings carves the back and sides from one single slab of Mahogany. This preserves the "look" of a semi-hollow bodied guitar while providing noticeable sonic differences to the player's ears. The top is carved from a  mineral flamed piece of book matched maple. This not only looks more like the "original" late 50's and early 60's instruments, but more importantly, sounds like an older guitar.
