SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 Collings 290 “TV Edition” Yellow with TV Jones Pickups

2010 Collings 290

Change the channel.... A solid body 50's inspired electric guitar in TV Yellow, that has two TV Jones pickups in it? Well, why not? This is the "TV" edition of the Collings 290!

Bill Collings is admittedly building some of the finest acoustic guitars that have ever been built. When he decided to take on the challenge of building electric guitars, this may have seemed an easier task. Electric guitars have no bracing, no acoustic waves to study, and acoustic players are known to be a finicky bunch when compared to our electric brethren. Well, 70 prototypes and a year later, he finally felt that he had built the electric guitar that he wanted to build. Redesigning electric guitars in the process and setting the new standard for fit, finish, innovation, and most importantly tone!

The Collings 290 is named after the highway that runs through the Austin hill country and takes you to Collings workshop. Although it may look like a traditional model with it's one "Spanish" cutaway and two humbuckers, look a little deeper and appreciate the features this guitar brings to the table.

The Body is a select piece of mahogany that has two ergonomic cuts on the back of the guitar, one for the area where the guitar rests against your ribcage and "forms" against it, and one on the lower bout to accommodate sitting down and playing the guitar. The leg cutout makes practicing or doing a session easy as it molds to your leg, and the other, makes standing and playing a gig a pleasure as the guitar fits comfortably against your body.

The Neck joint has been redesigned to join the body on an angle allowing for easy access to the upper frets. The neck joins at the 17th fret on the bass side but on the treble side it joins at the 19th fret. The wood used is select Mahogany that was typically used on the great instruments of the 50's and 60's. This select wood has more mass, and therefore it is more rigid, but responds better than any guitar you have played, and is not in any way "neck heavy."

This custom 2010 Collings has a "TV" Yellow finish on the body, and the neck as well. A back story for your consideration: This special yellow color was designed in the 1950s to solve the problem of the color white, under the glare of bright television lights, overpowering the black and white television cameras. Get ready for your close up Mr. Deville, because this guitar belongs on TV!

The TV Edition Collings features twin Tom "TV" Jones Filter-tron Classic pickups, instead of the standard two humbuckers. TV Jones has been building such fine quality reproductions of Gretsch type pickups that they started using his creations in all of their high end guitars. These pickups reproduce the look, feel, and tone of the classic 50's Gretsch guitars heard on many a Nashville session recording. Because this is one of the early 290 Tv Edition's the pick ups do have black pickup rings which the newer models do not have.

This 2010 Collings 290 Tv Jones is in excellent condition, with just a few small scratches to the top and back. There are also a few impressions, or "dents" on the back of the guitar that are NOT through the finish and can be seen in the detailed photographs below. Original Hardshell Case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2006 Fender Custom Shop 1963 Dakota Red Stratocaster Limited Edition 36 out of 48

2006 Fender Custom Shop 1963 Dakota Red Stratocaster Limited Edition 36 out of 48

While Fender has been around since the late 1940's, the Fender Custom shop has only been creating their visions of Leo Fender's iconic instruments since 1987. The custom shop is made of a small group of select craftspeople who re-create, and re-invent some of Fender's most famous instruments.

This magnificent guitar, the first of Fender's Guitar Center Vintage Collector Series, is a stunning limited-edition replica built exclusively for Guitar Center in honor of their 42nd anniversary and based on an instrument found in the world-famous Vintage Room at Guitar Center Hollywood.

Master Builder Dennis Galuzka crafted only 42 of these remarkable replicas, this model was the 36th built out of those 42. Each guitar is finished in a spectacular Dakota Red over three-color sunburst Relic lacquer. A rare Brazilian rosewood fingerboard completes this historically accurate masterpiece.

"Dennis Galuszka began building high-end acoustic guitars during his 13 years as a cabinetmaker, combining his passions for music and woodworking. As a self-taught drummer, it was a fateful audition with one of the Fender master builders that led to a job interview (and a steady gig). Hired as an apprentice, he was promoted to master builder in 1999. Galuszka has since built instruments for many influential players, including country legend Buck Owens and jazz master Robben Ford.

With an eye for detail and a keen imagination, Galuszka built a series of clever one-offs, including a Record Stratocaster® guitar with a record player tone arm tremolo, a pickguard customized from a real vinyl album, and fret marker inlays resembling plastic yellow 45 record adapters. His matching pair of surf guitars (a Stratocaster® and Precision Bass® guitar) built for the 2003 NAMM Show featured a long board body graphic and a custom decal."

Besides the typical wear of a "Relic" guitar this 2006 Relic Stratocaster is in excellent condition and looks as if it just came out of Fender's Custom Shop, as the detailed photographs will indicate. The original Hardshell case is included with case candy.

SOLD: National ResoLectric Biscayne Blue with a Lollar P90

Hear This Instrument: National ResoLectric Sunburst Finish Jason Lollar P90 through Carr Rambler. 1-Highlander 2-both P/u
Recorded In-House on a Sony PCM-D50 handheld recorder with no compression or eq. -20dB pad on
National ResoLectric Biscayne Blue with a Lollar P90

From time to time we are privileged to receive custom or "One-Off" instruments from National ResoPhonic, and every single time we are simply blown away with their quality and choice of appointments, or in this case the Finish! When we first opened the case of this Custom ResoLectric we were mesmerized by the very mellow yet hypnotic Biscayne Blue finish. To compliment the finish National also finished the headstock in Biscayne Blue which we believe compliments the finish perfectly. We have seen many of the standard burst Resolectric's and Revolver's here in our shop and would have never thought about this guitar in blue, but we are incredibly pleased to have this unique guitar in the shop and hope to see more like it in the future! Biscayne Blue, for you classic car aficionados, was part of the paint line up for the 1954 Chevy line up, and as you can see, is a gorgeous shade of deep, almost iridescent blue.

The ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. The current model uses an audiophile-quality Highlander preamp to mix both the magnetic and piezoelectric pickups. A Jason Lollar P-90 pickup sits in the neck position, and a Highlander piezo transducer is fitted under the saddle. The output of each pickup is controlled by independent volume knobs, with a master volume knob to control the instruments overall output level. A 3-way toggle switch selects which pickups are active. The solid mahogany body is capped with a figured maple top bound in ivoroid. The figured maple neck clears 14 frets to the body, highlighted with a diamond inlaid, rosewood fretboard.

The Lollar P90 in the neck has a fat, singing lead voice that is perfectly suited for slide players looking for the ultimate in classic Electric blues tones. The Piezo sounds like an acoustic national, only perfectly amplified. You have a myriad of tones at your fingertips, which makes it easy to switch between a preset rhythm and lead sounds. I do believe I'll dust my broom!

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 Fano Alt de Facto SP6 Olympic White

2010 Fano Alt de Facto SP6 Olympic White

Dennis Fano, Master Builder and Creator of Fano Guitars, has always had an interest in building unique instruments that combine features from a wide range of styles. The Alt De Facto series introduced by Fano Guitars, is the incarnation of Dennis's interests and wants; the Alt de Facto combines many noticeable influences and features but still stands on it's own with a unique design and build style.

The Alt de Facto respectfully pays homage to some of the classic American guitar makers of the mid-20th century. With aged Nickel hardware and distressed lacquer finish this guitar screams retro and truly feels like a vintage instrument. Although this guitar is a "Relic" of sorts, the Alt De Facto is not meant to be perceived as a guitar built today with a look towards yesteryear, but rather a rare missing link that has been rediscovered and brought back to the future!

This 2010 Alt De Facto SP6 features an Alder body with a contour and style that can only be described as a "mash-up" between a Les Paul Junior and a Telecaster. The neck is Maple combined with a Rosewood Fretboard, the neck plays beautifully and feels like you are playing a piece of history.

The pickups on the SP6 are Fralin custom-wound P-90 and T-style pickups. The tone of this guitar is incredibly versatile with every single tone sounding incredibly smooth and vintage.  The ToneStyler is a 16 position rotary switch that allows for such versatile tones that are produced by this guitar. Switching between the P-90 in the neck position yields fat and very vocal tone with plenty of bite, combined with the the twang of the T-style pickup in the bridge position this guitar excels at all playing styles from blues to jazz or even country.

This guitar is a a Relic and does have a faux wear and tear but don't that mislead you, this guitar is in absolute pristine condition and is hard to distinguish used from new. Hardshell Case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1991 Gibson ES775

1991 Gibson ES775

The elusive ES-775 is one of Gibson's rarest full depth archtops. First introduced in 1990 the ES-775 was a premium version of one of the most respected jazz guitars, the Gibson's ES-175. Discontinued in 1993, the ES-775 has become increasingly more rare and sought after as an alternative for guitars such as the ES-175.

Featuring many upgraded such as a solid ebony fingboard with matching tone and volume knobs, gleaming gold hardware, Multi-Bound Headstock, and Split Block Inlays of the old Howard Roberts. The ES-775 exhibits some significant structural changes over it's workhorse cousin.

To give this guitar more of a mellow tone, the Neck Pickup was moved to the end of the fingerboard.  The cutaway was deepened appreciably for improved access to the upper fingerboard.

This 1991 Gibson ES775 is in excellent condition with only very light scratches to the top, back, and sides as expected with an instrument 20+ years old. Original Hardshell Case Included.
