SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2002 Carr Slant 6V 1×15″ Combo Green Covering

2002 Carr Slant 6V 1x15

The 40 watt Slant 6V offers an impressive range of legendary American and British tones, and unprecedented versatility and usable power without sacrificing the warmth, clarity and handbuilt, all-tube tone that are the hallmark of Carr amplifiers. At the heart of the Slant 6V are two independent, foot-switchable channels: Channel One bridges our shimmering clean tone with gutbucket, overdriven blues, while the dual gain settings on Channel Two offer pure tube crunch, soaring sustain and fluid dynamic response.

The Slant 6V can be operated at half-power in cathode bias (18W) or fixed bias mode (22W), yielding tones reminiscent of early tweed and AC-style combos in cathode mode, and a punchier, more tightly defined sound in fixed bias mode. And at full power, the Slant 6V runs four 6V6 output tubes split in cathode and fixed bias pairs, placing every conceivable classic tube tone at your fingertips.

This 2002 amp has a few tears in the grill cloth, shown in the photographs.  There are some rips and scuffs on the corners, also pictured.  The carry handle shows some wear.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1992 Goodall RSC Rosewood Standard Cutaway Engelmann Spruce

Hear This Instrument: Goodall RSC
Recorded In-House on a Sony PCM-D50 handheld recorder with no compression or eq.
1992 Goodall RSC Rosewood Standard Cutaway Engelmann Spruce

James Goodall is an artisan of superb craftsmanship with an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, combined with robust, three dimensional sound character. These qualities embody every James Goodall guitar.

The Standard series, this one having rosewood back and sides, with its graceful curving lines, is a larger-bodied guitar with a clarity that is uncanny!  The amazingly rich, powerful bass and midrange is blended with a brilliant treble shimmering with harmonic overtones. Arguably the most balanced guitar he makes, James feels that the Goodall Standard is the crowning achievement of his luthierie career. Approximately the same cavity size as the dreadnought guitar, that is where the resemblance stops. More than one musician has commented that "this guitar makes others sound like they are stuffed full of cotton."

Whether in your living room, in the studio, or on stage, this one excels. Truly it can be said that this is the Standard by which all other guitars are judged.

The top of this guitar is Engelmann Spruce, which is the softest of the spruce topwoods.  This allows for lots of projection and responsiveness when played with a lighter touch or even bare fingers.  Not to be fooled, however, this guitar will take some flatpicking and strumming as well, as long as you don't push it too hard.  The tone is warm, rich, and effortless.

This guitar has some dings and scratches, as the detailed photos will indicate.  These are on the headstock, top, and back of the instrument.  Fret wear is almost non-existent, though this guitar has been played often.  Original hardshell case included, as well as a Small Dog case cover.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 Huss and Dalton DS Adirondack Spruce and Figured Mahogany

2010 Huss and Dalton DS Adirondack Spruce and Figured Mahogany

The Huss and Dalton DS is a powerhouse in their lineup.  It is big on sound and delivers the clarity that the famous slope shoulder designs of the 30s and 40s became legendary for.

The topwood on this guitar is Adirondack Spruce.  Adirondack was used on nearly all of the early instruments we know and love, up til the big war where supplies were used up on various wartime needs.  It is the stiffest of all the topwoods, delivering a sparkle and clarity with virtually unlimited power.

With mahogany back and sides, this guitar will be a dream in the recording studio.  Mahogany is very reflective and is known for it's definition and balance.  Historically, mahogany guitars are preferred when recording since they require very little or no EQ to make them sound good... just put a mic in front of them and hit the red button!

This guitar has a dent with some scratches on the lower bout on the back side, pictured. There are some light finish scratches on the body and headstock.  Hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 Huss & Dalton TOM-R Brazilian Rosewood Adirondack Spruce Hot Hide Glue

2010 Huss & Dalton TOM-R Brazilian Rosewood Adirondack Spruce Hot Hide Glue

Brazilian Rosewood is an extremely rare tonewood with deep bass and brilliant trebles that was used on the famous vintage guitars we have all grown to love.  An international embargo on trade on Brazilian rosewood products guarantees that the relatively few sets remaining in this country will continue to spiral in price as the supply dwindles.

In addition to a gorgeous set of Brazilian, this guitar features an Adirondack Spruce top.  Adirondack spruce is a tonewood that has a high stiffness to weight ratio and virtually unlimited headroom and power.  This allows the player to pull unlimited volume and tone from the instrument.

Huss and Dalton applies the same building style to their OM as they do their standard dreadnoughts. The top is built with a 25' radius. A positive by-product of the radiused soundboard design, besides its load bearing properties, is a boost in the mid-range without overpowering the bass and trebles. This is design function is showcased in this guitar - boasting unsurpassed tonal balance. The Adirondack top is braced with hand split Adirondack, as are all of Huss and Dalton's guitars, which is a stiffer bracing material that makes for a more responsive and lively top due to a more efficient transfer of energy.

This custom TOM-R from Huss and Dalton has a liveley, powerful tone that only Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood can bring to the table. Balanced, crisp tone, and rich full overtones is the name of the game here; all with Huss & Dalton's trademark "bell-like ring" they have become known for. This OM will respond well to even heavy handed flatpickers, while maintaining surprising responsiveness for fingerstyle players as well.   The even response and airy, shimmery qualities are characteristic of Huss and Dalton OMs, and this one captures that to perfection.

This guitar is difficult to distinguish from new, with only normal finish sinking and a few light finish scratches.  Original hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2011 Blueberry Hand-Carved Jumbo Groove Guitar – Alaskan Spruce and Balinese White Angel Wood – Celtic Carvings

2011 Blueberry Hand-Carved Jumbo Groove Guitar - Alaskan Spruce and Balinese White Angel Wood - Celtic Carvings

Blueberry Groove guitars have hundreds of hand-carved grooves in carefully selected acoustic panels on the top wood, creating a resonance never before heard or felt on an acoustic guitar. Due to these hand carved grooves, the whole guitar comes alive when it is played and the resonance and projection are greatly enhanced.

All Blueberry Guitars are made with solid woods of standard wood thicknesses - they do not use thicker woods to adjust for the carvings. It is the unique skill of the Balinese woodcarvers and their specialized chisels that allow them to carve intricate details onto very soft thin woods. One of the secrets to the sweet and clear Blueberry sound is the effect of the increased resonation caused by the contoured carved grooves on the guitar body. This is a unique signature feature exclusive to Blueberry Guitars.

This hand-carved Blueberry Jumbo guitar has an Alaskan spruce top with hundreds of Blueberry grooves.  The back and sides are Balinese White Angel wood and the neck is a combination of rosewood and mahogany. The body of this guitar is tapered, thicker on the bottom side, making it comfortable to hold and play. The inlay on the fretboard is Balinese White Angel wood and the carving on the headstock is Balinese White Angel wood that was stained and inlaid into the rosewood headstock. The fretboard is also rosewood.

This guitar is difficult to distinguish from new, with no playing wear.  Hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2000 Santa Cruz PJ Brazilian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce Parlor Guitar

2000 Santa Cruz PJ Brazilian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce Parlor Guitar

The PJ's parlor-style body was the pinnacle of the art of guitar making up until the late 19th century. This was the optimal size for tonal perfection. The reason guitars got bigger was to make them louder. With amplification and modern recording techniques, we can once again embrace sound quality over sound quantity. The PJ is all about pure tonal sophistication. Every tried and true technique of lutherie is used to enable this guitar to fulfill one's creative spirit. Genuine and elegant presence comes from each position on the fretboard, while a 24-inch scale and 12 frets to the body make the PJ effortless to play.  This instrument holds songs, compositions and possibilities to last a lifetime.

This particular PJ was built with Brazilian Rosewood and has gorgeous figuring on it, not to mention incredible tone!  Brazilian Rosewood is an extremely rare tonewood with deep bass and brilliant trebles that was used on the famous vintage guitars we have all grown to love.  An international trade embargo on Brazilian rosewood products guarantees that the relatively few sets remaining in this country will continue to spiral in price as the supply dwindles.  Brazilian brings remarkable darkness, depth, and warmth; while exhibiting glorious overtones across the entire tonal spectrum.

The customizations don't stop there though...a gorgeous abalone backstrip and rosette along with an ebony peghead binding and fretboard binding add to the elegance of this petite beauty. Also included are custom gold Waverly tuners, a Brazilian headstock overlay to match the back and sides, a "D" model purfle line, and an ebony heel cap.

A sitka spruce top makes for a very versatile guitar, whether played with fingers or a pick.  Sitka is very warm with rich basses and doesn't require as much strength to pull the tone out of the guitar.  This guitar is highly responsive and virtually plays itself with even the lightest pick attack. The round profile neck shape fits comfortably in your hand and makes for hours of effortless playing.

This guitar has some spots in the finish that are of undetermined origin.  There are approximately 6 on the back, and 4 on the sides. These are difficult to notice in person. They are approx 1/8" in diameter and one is pictured in the detail photograph.   There is a ding in the top binding, also shown.  There are some scuff marks on the back binding near the heelcap, also pictured.  There is a dent on the corner of the headstock as well as on the side.  Hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2007 Santa Cruz D12 Custom German Spruce Sunburst

2007 Santa Cruz D12 Custom German Spruce Sunburst

Legendary artist and first call session ace, Norman Blake, has long appreciated the power and sensitivity of the original dreadnought design with 12 frets clear of the body. SCGC's prototype D-12 Model was commissioned to showcase Norman's playing style by adding clarity and sustain for an articulate response to the flat pick. Building a guitar with 12 frets clear of the body creates more air volume, which allows greater amplitude and sustain. The hand tuned X-bracing insures increased bass response, while the top voicing and 4-1/4 inch sound hole size combine to achieve great presence in all ranges. This eliminates the tendency of the traditional dreadnought towards boominess at the expense of midrange and treble. The controlled integrity of Mahogany sides and back impart clarity and definition to the guitar's complex acoustic presence. The D-12's sheer volume, complexity and incredible sustain make it a truly inspiring stage partner.

This custom D12 features a German Spruce top.  We love German Spruce here at Artisan not only for it's rich and complex tone, but it's versatility for many different playing styles.  German Spruce offers exceptional stiffness together with low weight making the tops more responsive.   We often find German to be a perfect compromise between Sitka and Adirondack, since it responds so well to fingerstyle playing and also holds up to a heavy pick attack.

This guitar has some finish nicks on the headstock, visible in the detail photographs.  There are finish scratches throughout, captured the best we could in the photos.  There are some dings on the back, photographed.  There is a small area where something has reacted with the finish on the back near the heelcap.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 2010 Martin 000-28VS Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

2010 Martin 000-28VS Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

The 000-28VS delivers that amazing tone you can only get from a classic 12-fret 000-sized acoustic. Its excellent tonal balance makes it perfect for both fingerstyle players and strummers, while its modified V neck shape takes you back to those legendary Martins of the past. This guitar is easy to play, and it gives you the features, looks, and character that are bound to make it your companion for years and years to come.

When you demand top quality from an acoustic, you don't settle for anything less than premium tonewoods. Here they are! The 000-28VS gives you a quality solid Sitka spruce top, and it's paired with a solid East Indian rosewood back and sides. The result? Rich, full, and detailed tone that only improves with age! The ebony fingerboard and bridge add subtle class, as do the herringbone inlays. In keeping with this guitar's vintage vibe, Martin equipped the 000-28VS with a slotted headstock. All the elements combine to give you the perfect acoustic playing experience.

This particular Martin certainly stands out from the rest.... simpy put, it's a good one!  The tone is vibrant and alive, with a surprising amount of power for the 000 body size.  This guitar is a natural fingerpicker, but also excels at flatpicking and could certainly hang with most dreadnought at your local bluegrass jam.

This guitar has a ding on the top upper bout, shown in the detail photographs.  There is light finish scratching from light playing, nothing that could be photographed.  Original hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1994 Martin HD-28 Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

1994 Martin HD-28 Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

The Martin HD-28 Standard Dreadnought Acoustic is a re-creation of the legendary herringbone D-28-style guitars, with a Sitka spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, and mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard. Vintage appointments include herringbone top trim, a traditional zigzag backstrip, and Martin's famous scalloped X-bracing that allows the top to vibrate more freely, yielding a louder, more open tone.

This HD-28 has all of the deep bass response that Martin is famous for.  Chords are rich and full with no unpleasant or harsh highs.  A fishman pickup system means you are ready for the stage and will sound great while you are there.

This guitar has some dings and scratches as the detail photographs will show.  There are 3 larger dings that were drop filled on the top lower bout, now showing again.  The binding on the back upper bout/waist was re-glued due to it separating, which is common on these guitars.  There is finish checking in this area.  There are spots on the back of the neck where the finish is worn, shown in the photographs.  Original hardshell case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: 1940 Martin A-Style Mandolin with Oval Sound Hole

1940 Martin A-Style Mandolin with Oval Sound Hole

Obviously famous for their classic acoustic guitars, Martin also made mandolins for quite a few years.  This is a 1940 A-Style with a flat Mahogany back and slanted spruce top.   This mandolin has a wonderful vintage tone, with a very sweet resonance that only vintage woods can offer.  While not really suited for Bluegrass settings, this mandolin will be wonderful for most other traditional mandolin styles such as classical, folk or Italian music.

This mandolin shows some wear consistent with it's early build date.  There are numerous dents, dings and scratches as the photos will demonstrate. The tuners have been replaced.  The back was refinished at some point.  There is a crack on the top between the top two sets of strings that we believe is stable... the location of the braces have cleated the crack on their own.  Original case included.

SOLD: Pre-Owned: Martin 000-28 12-Fret Golden Era Limited Edition #165

Martin 000-28 12-Fret Golden Era Limited Edition #165

The 000-28 12-fret represents the second in a series of faithful vintage Golden Era recreations.  The concept of Golden era guitars refers to the vintage Martin instruments made prior to World War II.

During that pre-war era, Martin's celebrated and unique blend of well chosen materials, optimized design, and handcrafted construction created what many collectors and guitar experts believe to be the finest acoustic stringed instruments ever made.

Gradually over the past 20 years, Martin has reintroduced many of the individual styles and features of those pre-war instruments.  The return of the vintage attributes to production has been received well by the guitar playing community, including references to this period as Martin's 2nd Golden Era.  The idea for a specific Golden Era Series has challenged Martin to recreate, as faithfully as possible, models that have long since become legendary.

The 1996 000-28 12 Fret Limited Edition Golden era draws its inspiration from an obscure but highly sought after pre-war Martin size and style.  The graceful 000 12-fret body shape, with a slightly wider 1 13/16" neck width at the nut, is particularly suited for guitarists who favor more delicate fingerstyle techniques.

A bookmatched sitka spruce top is braced with the original pre-war scalloped X-brace pattern, shifted to a position 1" from the soundhole.  Linen reinforcement strips have been glued in regular intervals along the interior surface of the Indian Rosewood sides, to further strengthen the body.  The two-piece back, also fashioned from solid Indian Rosewood, features the traditional Zig-Zag back inlay strip.

This guitar has a few light finish scratches, most notably on the pickguard, as shown in the photograph.  A strap button has been installed on the heel. Original hardshell case included.
