The OM2H is a standard model for Collings, but nothing about it is remotely "standard." The OM body size has been favored by fingerstyle players for years, but has made its mark in flatpicking and strumming with its unique clarity and projection. The body size of the OM lends itself towards a more focused and defined tone than a typical dreadnought size. Yet, the folks at Collings build with volume in mind. The OM2H no doubt represents the defined aspects of the OM; with a crisp, clear tone across the entire spectrum. And as the OM body was designed with balance in mind, the OM2H fits the bill. Yet, there still is a balanced level of projection and volume that Collings may as well put a patent on.
Some tend to look down on Sitka as an inferior topwood to its German or Adirondack brothers. While both of those may have more headroom, it's hard to ignore the incredible versatility. From flatpicking to fingerstyle, Sitka has a well represented top end, without getting to ice-picky or harsh. All and all, the OM2H is a sure fire winner if you're looking for that all-around workhorse OM.
