2011 Taylor GS 6 12 String Guitar

With double the strings, some 12-string guitars can be difficult to play. Not Taylor's GS. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a 12-string that’s as easy to play as all Taylors, and with excellent intonation, keeping it in tune won’t be a chore. Featuring Taylor most common body size - the GS body shape, which helps blend a rich low end with wonderful articulation and tonal balance.

The non-cutaway acoustic models showcase a different appointment package from their acoustic/electric counterparts. Ivoroid binding applies a time-honored acoustic touch, while sparkling abalone outlines the tops and forms the rosette. This GS-6 comes with a Sitka spruce top and a gorgeous set of Big Leaf Maple chosen for the back and sides.

Unreal, full booming beautiful and bell-ringing sound! The Taylor GS 6 12 Sting sounds predominantly in the treble range but still incorporates mid and bass tones nicely, albeit softer. The action is smooth and perfect all the way up to the top frets and the guitar resonates as if it were plugged in, even when it's not. The sound is full and bright and cheery and without a hint of opacity or muddiness.

This 2011 Taylor GS 6 12 String Guitar is in excellent + condition. The only noticeable dent can be found on the back and is barely visible by the naked eye. Hardshell Case Included.

2008 Burriss Royal Bluesman

Quality, Versatility and sweet tones have always been the hallmark of the Burriss Design philosophy and the Royal Bluesman is no exception. Despite it's ultra portable stature the Royal bluesman is really 2 high quality audio devices in one.

It's primary design intention is a warm and expressive tube-type guitar amp with on-board spring reverb and tremolo features unheard of on an amp of this size. By moving the power switch down to the "FX" mode the Royal Bluesman takes on a whole new identity. In the FX mode the Royal Bluesman can be unloaded from the speaker so that it can be used as a stand-alone reverb tremolo unit into another amp or mixing console. The features dont stop there, also included is a series effects loop complete with send and return level controls which allows the return to be used as a quasi 2nd channel.

Burrriss was first to the market with a handy pedal board power supply built right into the amp which supplies 9vd@1A to your pedal board via the footswitch cable. The included VIB+ footswitch has a 2.1mm power outlet jack that allows guitarists to daisy chain out of the VIB+ to power most any standard 9V effect pedal.

Other features include 4-8-16 ohm speaker taps and 50/60hz world power capable.

This single channel, Burriss Royal Bluesman also includes a custom made speaker cabinet, and soft carrying case. This custom made enclosure was made by Power sound, and features a Weber 8" Blue Pup Ceramic speaker. From Weber's website; "This is a 10" version of our P12B Blue Dog. We call it the 'Blue Pup'. It uses a 1 1/4" voice coil and the AlNiCo plug magnet (unless ordered with the Ceramic option). If you like the brit sound of the Blue Dog, we're sure you'll be impressed with the sound of the P10P. It has excellent sensitivity, overall smooth response without being HIFI-ish, and has clear, clean highs." The original cables (s) for footswitch and patch cable amp - cab are missing. It has an $125 upgrade to current 2012 specifications. Additionally, it has a 3 position power switch: Normal and No Load which includes: Reverb/Preamp, Trem/Pre, EQ/Pre. 2008 Trussart Rusty Steel Deville

James Trussart is famed for making guitars that combine the feel of a traditional electric guitar with the radical looks of a body made entirely out of steel.  A musician-turned-luthier, the Parisian native began his career as a fiddler, accompanying Cajun singer-songwriter Zachary Richard in the late 70's, befor turning his attention to crafting violins and later guitars in 1980.

From his So-Cal home workshop (where he's resided since 2000), Trussart crafts custom steel-bodied guitars, basses and violins in a dazzling array of finishes, reminiscent of shiny chrome resonator instruments and rusty, weathered or fossilized discarded machinery.

Trussart's creations are designed to have the look and feel of a vintage instrument with the added appeal of a metal construction. His "Rust-o-matic" technique (a term coined by Billy Gibbons regarding Trussart's unique finishes) involves leaving the guitar body exposed to the elements for several weeks, allowing it to corrode before treating it to stop the corrosion. He then sands it to replicate years of distress, and then finishes it with a clear satin coat.

The SteelDeville is a classic Trussart single cutaway design with a hollow steel body and a wood neck that is both beautiful to look at and to play. The 24.5” scale length and vintage components make this instrument feel like home the minute you lay your hands on it. The SteelDeville features custom metal appointments, like the recessed steel head cap that is both beautiful and functional. Additionally, by adding mass to the headstock it increases sustain.

The steel body while also being the perfect medium to display the beautiful Trussart custom finishes and engravings also has tonal advantages. The Trussart SteelDeville tone is a uniquely classic, thick and resonant tone combined with an edge that cuts through. The construction of these instruments is only half of the story, the other half is the finish, every instrument comes with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it has a personality of it’s own.

The SteelDeville has found it’s way into the hands of many guitarists including Rich Robinson, Billy Corgan, Zakk Wylde, Richard Fortus, to name just a few.

All wear to this 2008 Trussart Rusty Steel Deville looks like it is original to how it left the factory, it is a very cool instrument that sounds as unique as it looks. Original G and C Hardshell Case Included.

Morris Guitar Model S 91 Orchestra Model Cutaway

The Morris S Series top is constructed with their original XX bracing Top pattern. By diffusing the positions of the bracing peaks, they are able to distribute the string vibrations from the bridge to the top with better balance, creating fantastically rich sounds that sustain well throughout the register, from the lowest to highest notes.

This is complimented with their unique X Bracing Back. Back braces are normally positioned perpendicular to the strings, reducing some vibration. To eliminate this effect while maintaining the flexibility of the wood, Morris employs a similar diffused X Bracing structure on the round back, allowing it to vibrate like the top, providing a complete, rich, rounded sound.

A gently arching back successfully enhances overall musical quality, yielding real differences in increased volume, powerful sound, and longer sustains. This featured Round Back is rounded both vertically and horizontally, providing a sound unique to Morris guitars.

2005 G and L Comanche

Leo Fender† passed away on a rainy day in March of 1991, an event which shook the Music World: The father of modern music was gone. It was on that very day that Leo had completed his last prototype instrument, after which he declared to his wife Phyllis that he had given all he can to the musicians of the world. Before his passing, he wanted to be sure that the legacy of G&L would continue to shine even brighter in the future. He knew that he must look after the people of G&L, his family, so that they would remain secure and free to continue building the finest guitars and basses in the world.

Today the G&L factory continues production as Leo would have wanted. His private workshop, the center of his creativity, remains untouched as it was on his last day and has been visited by music people from around the world. While the people of G&L, his people, continue to build the instruments with love, dedication and great skill.

The 2005 G and L Comanche is a superbly executed super-Strat. A versatile instrument and a perfect choice for a session or casuals player who prefers to schlep just one axe. The Comanche is incredibly well-made. The detail work is superb, the nut and neck joint are airtight, and the finish is mirror perfect. The sleek, shallow neck is exquisite, and the jumbo frets are immaculately set and rounded. The feel is creamy and consistent. The non-locking arrived superbly set up with two springs. The trem arm pushes snugly into its socket without screwing or locking, and stays put until you tough it. The entire assembly is light, accurate, and super-responsive.

Ingenious wiring enhances the Comanche’s flexibility. Along with a 5-way pickup selector, there’s also a toggle switch that lets you choose all three pickups at once, or the outside two together. Even cooler are the pair of global, passive treble and bass controls. The bass knob is especially handy for nudging the hefty Z pickups toward vintage Strat tones, and the treble control is great for dialing in smoky, jazz-approved colors. The Comanche delivers a surprisingly good faux-archtop vibe. The flexible and intuitive controls make it easy to dial in just the right shading.

The tones live up to the craftsmanship. They are ringy and rich, with lots of top-end airiness. At the same time, they deliver a low-end impact that far exceeds a traditional Strat’s. As on an ASAT, you get the graininess and acoustic-like complexity of a vintage Fender, but with greater power and an expanded frequency range.

2006 Martin 000 28EC Eric Clapton Signature Model

Eric Clapton has relied on Martin 000s throughout acoustic career, resulting in huge increases in sales and interest from the 90s and onward. In 1995, Martin collaborated with Clapton and released the first of many signature models - the 000-42EC. Wildly popular and rather expensive, the impact of the 000-42EC resulted in a simpler and more affordable, yet equally as spectacular model. The 000-28EC fits the bill, and this particular one has opened up beautifully!

Clapton himself has called this guitar a "utilitarian in the very best sense of the word" - and we would agree wholeheartedly! The 000-28EC shares some characteristics with famed pre-war 000s, including a scalloped X bracing pattern. The 14th fret neck joint extends the reach beyond the typical 12th fret joint on 000s, but is still frets effortlessly up and down the fingerboard due to its short scale. The profile of the neck is a slight modified V with a 1 3/4" nut width. The combination is a nice complement that fills out your left hand without too much heft. The 000-28EC is surprisingly warm and rich, lending itself nicely to fingerpicking, yet with enough headroom for strumming. A few years of playing has opened up the Sitka Spruce top; it is responsive and mellowed on the top end. Hands down one of the nicest Martin 000s we have played!

Since Collings moved into the electric arena in 2006, we suspect Bill Collings has always had an interest in the role that laminate woods play in the tone of classic semi-hollow electrics and jazz guitars, vs. their solid wood brethren.  It was only a matter of time before he delved into a new variation. Thin, light, and simply exquisite, the Eastside LC commands attention.  Featuring stylized components of their highly coveted 16" archtops, the Eastside is the consummate jazz artist's guitar with more gain, less feedback, warm fat tones and classic esthetics - world renowned Collings quality, all at a more affordable price.  Built with laminate Maple top and back and sides, this sleek thin-bodied lightweight archtop is made for jazz. Introduced at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, we are excited to see one of these grace our walls.

The flared peghead adds just the right amount of class, while the gorgeous sunburst top compliments the Flamed maple top perfectly. When plugged in, the Eastside deluxe still retains a warm, jazz tone. You don't even have to roll off the tone control to achieve a perfect Grant Green tone. As it is a laminate top, the Eastside is more resistant to feedback at higher volumes. As with all Collings, the playability, set-up, fit and finish are all flawless. The comfortable "C" shaped neck is a joy to play, and chord solos, single note lines, and Wes style octaves leap out of it!

Compared with solid wood construction, the Eastside LC sends more focused information to the pickups, Collings to use higher output electronics. The Lollar Humbucker creates tone that is evenly balanced with the smooth response that many players look for in arched top electric guitars. The Collings laminate guitars offer a differing sonic spectrum to that of their solid wood equivalent.  They should be viewed as two different styles of guitars, offering different & unique tools for your toolbox!

Dr Z MAZ18 Jr

Originally designed as a "grab-and-go" studio and small club amp, the Maz 18 has made its way to some of the largest stages in the country. Don't confuse "18 Watts" with "weak and flabby". The Maz 18 will amaze you with its definition and headroom, all the way down to the low E...plenty of power for a number of speaker cabinet accommodations. You'll use this amp in small clubs and never think about needing to mic it. Got a larger venue? Mic the Maz 18 and play away, because big amp tone and soul is all there. This is also a great amp for jazz guitarists, whether you're looking to replace a small Blackface amp or looking for an amp with enough complexity for fusion.

The Maz 18 is an amp that every Strat or Tele player will love, but it's not only for single coil players as humbuckers are right at home with the Maz 18 too. Here is a demo of Carr's new amplifier "The Bloke" by Premier Guitar from the 2012 Winter Namm Show.

There are very many styles and varieties of mandolins made by very many manufacturers and independent luthiers. However, Mandolin referred to in the USA are more than likely those manufactured by the Gibson Co. (or patterned after the Gibsons).

Orville Gibson (born 1856, Chateaugay, New York) started making mandolins in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. The mandolins were distinctive in that they featured a carved, arched solid wood top and back and bent wood sides. Prior to this, mandolins had a flat solid wood top and a bowl-like back similar to a lute. These bowl-back mandolins were very fragile and unstable. Disdainful of the shape, Orville Gibson characterized them as "potato bugs". Gibson's innovation made a distinctive, darker-sounding mandolin that was easier to manufacture in large numbers.

In 1922 Gibson introduced a level of master-grade instruments under the watchful eye of its top engineer, Mr. Lloyd Loar. These instruments designated as the F5 mandolin, L5 guitar, H5 mandola, K5 mandocello, no mandobass and exactly one A5 mandolin; were characterized by very high quality workmanship, materials, ornamentation AND f-shaped soundholes. The F5 mandolin also has a longer neck than the previous mandolins allowing easier access to the higher frets. These instruments signed by Mr. Loar have become highly prized collector items.

This 1966 Gibson A style mandolin features a rounded teardrop shaped body. It may have two points projecting from the body, one on each side of the neck - but the term "A", is then further qualified as a "double cutaway A" or "Jethro style A" or "Florentine A" in this case. In the absence of further designation, vintage "A"s are understood to be of the oval hole variety, modern "A"s of the f-hole variety. In the early 1960's the A-5 mandolin incorporated the Cherry sunburst finish.  It plays wonderfully, has a great loud "chop", and a beautiful warm sound.

This is a nice clean A style with F-shaped sound holes with a carved spruce top and flame maple back and sides. Fretboard is flush with the top. Classic "Gibson" decal logo above the truss rod cover on the peghead. Fully bound top, back and fingerboard. All hardware and finish is original. Some scratches, dents and wear as seen in the detailed photos below.  Comes with original Gibson Hardshell Case.

National ResoLectric Biscayne Blue with a Lollar P90

From time to time we are privileged to receive custom or "One-Off" instruments from National ResoPhonic, and every single time we are simply blown away with their quality and choice of appointments, or in this case the Finish! When we first opened the case of this Custom ResoLectric we were mesmerized by the very mellow yet hypnotic Biscayne Blue finish. To compliment the finish National also finished the headstock in Biscayne Blue which we believe compliments the finish perfectly. We have seen many of the standard burst Resolectric's and Revolver's here in our shop and would have never thought about this guitar in blue, but we are incredibly pleased to have this unique guitar in the shop and hope to see more like it in the future! Biscayne Blue, for you classic car aficionados, was part of the paint line up for the 1954 Chevy line up, and as you can see, is a gorgeous shade of deep, almost iridescent blue.

The ResoLectric has gone through a few changes in its 19 years of production. The current model uses an audiophile-quality Highlander preamp to mix both the magnetic and piezoelectric pickups. A Jason Lollar P-90 pickup sits in the neck position, and a Highlander piezo transducer is fitted under the saddle. The output of each pickup is controlled by independent volume knobs, with a master volume knob to control the instruments overall output level. A 3-way toggle switch selects which pickups are active. The solid mahogany body is capped with a figured maple top bound in ivoroid and finished off with a  gorgeous pearloid pickguard. The figured maple neck clears 14 frets to the body, highlighted with a diamond inlaid, rosewood fretboard.

The Lollar P90 in the neck has a fat, singing lead voice that is perfectly suited for slide players looking for the ultimate in classic Electric blues tones. The Piezo sounds like an acoustic national, only perfectly amplified. You have a myriad of tones at your fingertips, which makes it easy to switch between a preset rhythm and lead sounds. I do believe I'll dust my broom!

2011 Santa Cruz Bob Brozman Baritone European Spruce and Mahogany

A collaboration between world musician Bob Brozman and SCGC's Richard Hoover, this unique guitar combines design elements and tone woods for unrivaled volume, tone and sustain. The Bob Brozman Baritone model features a 27-inch neck scale built to be tuned down two or three half steps, a sloped-shoulder dreadnought with 12 frets to the body, contributing to a rich and powerful voice. If your playing styles include Blues, Hawaiian slack-key or any open-tuning fingerstyle, this guitar is for you! - powerful, indeed!

This baritone guitar simply sounds incredible and plays like a dream. It resonates beautiful sounding low frequencies and the baritone tuning provides deep low chords that instantly sound unique. Perfect for players who like things a bit lower than standard E.

Bob Brozman is tuned C to C with guages 17, 24, 32, 45, 52 & 59 (NOTE: CAN BE TUNED TO D WITH A TRUSS ADJUSTMENT).  This custom Baritone also features an incredibly usable feature - a 1 3/4" nut width that makes it a smooth switch from a standard guitar to this baritone.

European Spruce, a special appointment on this guitar, provides a rich, complex tone and is the perfect topwood for many players who play fingerstyle as well as flatpick. European Spruce is stiffer than Sitka, providing more headroom and power, yet more flexible than Adirondack so that it responds well to a lighter attack. Additionally,the Mahogany back and sides keep your lead lines clear and distinct. We affectionately refer to these as little pianos, for their amazing clarity while playing a low "C". If you haven't played a Baritone, you owe it yourself to try one. Everything you normally play, now takes on a whole new sound!

With a name like Jazzmaster Fender didn't expect what would happen in the early to mid 60's when the Jazzmaster found an unexpected appreciation among the surf scene with players such as Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys and the instrumental band The Ventures.

The Jazzmaster was first introduced in 1958 at the NAMM Show and remained fairly popular until the 1970's with the rise of the humbucker tone and the Gibson Les Paul specifically. Production of the Jazzmaster ceased in 1980, but with players like Elvis Costello and Tom Verlaine as well as many players in the Indie music scene, the Jazzmaster has always enjoyed a cult like following. Because of its huge following and many players looking for some of the early Jazzmaster models, the value of these instruments began increasing in value in the early 90's. Fender has now decided to re-issue period correct models, as the popularity has never really waned from it's inception!

The Jazzmaster Pickups were designed with a brand new tone circuit specifically by Fender to produce a deeper mellower tone to differ from the popular, and iconic, Stratocaster and Telecaster models.  With separate pickup tone and volume controls as well as a 3-way pickup selector the versatility of tone on the Jazzmaster is unprecedented.  Just below the pickups is the, at the time, new "floating tremolo" as well as the adjustable floating bridge with six individual two-way saddles that allow for precision string intonation.

With some new features the Jazzmaster also featured well-known standard Fender appointments such as a truss-rod reinforced fast action neck with a "slab" Rosewood Fretboard, Clay dots and Chrome Hardware.

This 1961 Fender Jazzmaster is in excellent condition with normal wear and lacquer checking that you would expect from a 50+ year old instrument. This instrument has had the original early sunburst refinished by Fender in the late 60's, with a late 60's 3 Color burst. This has been confirmed by George Gruhn at Gruhn Guitars, and as seen in the report below. This guitar was also refretted and Plek'd, and set up for maximum playability at Glaser instruments here in Nashville, Tn.

Collings D1A Adirondack with Vintage Now Neck

Collings brings new clarity to the depth and warmth associated with large, deep-bodied dreadnought guitars. The bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, however, Collings D1 Series Mahogany dreads are employed by some of the busiest bluegrass flatpickers in the business, such as Andy Falco of the Stringdusters and Adam Aijala of Yonder Mountain String Band.

This Collings D1AVN is extraordinarily loud. The Adirondack Spruce top loves to be played loud and provides ample headroom and power needed to cut through bluegrass ensembles. The Mahogany back and sides keep your lead lines clear and distinct, just like the classic flatpicking recordings we've grown to love from players like Clarence White, Doc Watson, and Norman Blake.

Loudness aside, this guitar is also incredibly balanced in it's frequency response. Notes are rich and full all the way up and down the neck. The midrange and high-end sparkle will cut through any studio or on-stage mix with ease. The lows are balanced, defined, well rounded, and never boomy.

The Vintage Now neck is a custom appointment on this instrument and is coupled with a 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. Collings Vintage Now neck is the perfect compromise for many players that think a modern neck is too flat in profile, yet the typical neck on a 40's style instrument is too thick. Collings' exclusive neck profile is uniquely adapted to players looking for vintage width and girth, with contemporary playability. The slightly wider string spacing at both ends of the guitar also makes fingerstyle playing and chordal accompaniment more enjoyable. With a traditional "cut-through" saddle there should be no doubt as to the inspiration for this beast.

Bourgeois slope shouldered dreadnoughts are only about 1/4" wider than a standard dreadnought... and what a difference! Voiced for a more open,less driving sound than the Country Boy models, the Slope D accommodates a wide variety of playing styles ranging from country to pop covering nearly everything in between. Fingerstyle players love the increased response that the Slope D provides, even when played with bare fingers!

This 2006 Bourgeois Slope D features a beautiful Bearclaw Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides. The Bearclaw on this guitar is lightly figured but when under our professional photography lights the figuring is slightly exaggerated.

Here is what Dana Bourgeois had to say about Bearclaw Sitka Spruce: 
"I should mention bearclaw figure, or hazelficte-a delightful pattern in the grain occasionally occurring in all species of spruce. Bearclaw, like the curl in curly maple, is a rippling of the longitudinal fibers, which divides the surface of the wood into shimmering patterns. Unlike the even waves that usually occur in maple, bearclaw usually appears on asymmetrical or randomly broken patterns. This phenomenon almost always occurs in older trees that have dense, stiff grain structure and high sound velocity. Thus bearclaw is usually a reliable indicator of the better examples of tonewoods within any given species of spruce."

This 2006 Bourgeois Slope D is in excellent condition, there are various light scratches to the top, headstock, back, and sides, none of which are through the finish. There is a small ding to the top on the lower bout of the guitar that can be seen in the detailed photographs below. There was a pickup installed in this guitar but has since been professionally removed. Original Hardshell Case included.

Collings 002H German Spruce

The Collings 00 series guitars produce tone that is balanced and precise... from simple vocal accompaniment to fingerpicking to ragtime solos, this guitar is well suited for a wide variety of playing styles. The 00 is a guitar shape that was first designed around the time of the Civil War to keep up with the louder banjos and mandolins of the time. The comfortable size and timeless appearance of the 00 is matched by the ease of playing that a wider neck and shorter string scale afford.

German Spruce, a special appointment on this guitar, provides a rich, complex tone and is the perfect topwood for many players who play fingerstyle as well as flatpick. German Spruce is stiffer than Sitka, providing more headroom and power, yet more flexible than Adirondack so that it responds well to a lighter attack.

Other appointments include a custom nut width of 1 3/4" for those who find the standard 1 13/16" a bit too wide for their playing style.

This guitar is very responsive and will suit the needs of fingerstyle players very well.  The German top can also take an impressive amount of flatpicking, though the 00 body size is more suited to players with a lighter touch.  Tone is very clear with a vibrant and pleasant high end and just enough lows to balance the tone across the fretboard.

Collings 290 DC S Double Cutaway Jet Black

You can't visit the Collings shop in the outskirts of Austin without traveling through the Texas hill country on Highway 290. Named after this highway, the 290 DC S boasts amazing versatility in it's tonal spectrum. Santa Cruz Custom F Cutaway

Some SCGC models are designed for specific genres such as bluegrass, finger-style, or basic rhythm. The intent of the F Model’s elegant design is simply versatility. Recording, performing, and composing with picks or nails on the same instrument is a necessity for many of us. When your repertoire also demands full dynamics from subtle to bold, you needn’t settle nor compromise on your presentation if you have the proper tool. 2004 Santa Cruz VJ Brazilian Rosewood with Adirondack Spruce

The Vintage Jumbo and the iconic early 60's Epiphone Texan were the coolest accessories that an aspiring cowboy singer could shoot for. Each one of these guitars was a favorite of several of SCGC's veteran luthiers. As it is their style to interpret rather than copy, the Vintage Jumbo Model combines the essence of coolness possessed by its forbearers with built-in improvements from SCGC's decades of lutherie.

The Vintage Jumbo is the ideal Blues guitar. Inspired by the classic round-shouldered dreadnoughts of the 1940's, we infused it with the characteristic Santa Cruz volume, balance and complexity to create a guitar that can cover a lot of different styles. The VJ is dripping with the kind of deep, rich bass and sweet trebles that really shine in chord-oriented work. You won't find this one coming up short when you call on it for more!

This VJ's Adirondack Spruce top is braced and voiced for volume and the body is built with premium Brazilian Rosewood. Brazilian Rosewood has been Highly desirable for centuries due to its classic beauty and tone. This is the good stuff from Santa Cruz! Brazilian imparts a rich, warm tone to the guitar, slightly towards the brighter end of the tonal spectrum when compared to Indian Rosewood. It is an excellent choice for aesthetic and secure financial value based on historical trends. It is guaranteed to maximize the thrill of the acquisition! The balance favors the bass to the degree found in the originals, not to the excess found in many from the golden era. What this really pretty face has over its predecessors is SCGC's hallmark complexity of overtones, sustain and power.

The gorgeous Adirondack top is complemented by a dark vintage sunburst, very reminiscent of the originals found on the period correct Slope shoulder dreads.

This 2004 Santa Cruz VJ - Brazilian is in excellent condition. The original tuners have upgraded to Waverly Gold tuners. With only a few minor scratches to the pick-guard, top and back, this would be considered "Excellent plus". None of these scratches are through the finish and can be seen in the close up images below. Additionally, there is a slight outline of the previous tuners on the headstock. Includes a Calton Hardshell Case.

Pete Huttlinger is recognized around the world as one of the greatest fingerstyle guitar players of our time. His amazing ability to play melody, harmony, rhythm and everything in between has long captivated fans and fellow musicians alike. Pete bought his first Collings in March of 1997. Over the years, he has continually supported and promoted Collings instruments and, in the process, has become a great friend. Unfortunately, our friend's life has recently been turned upside down while he deals with a serious medical condition.

Pete has a congenital heart defect and has become extremely ill during the past year. He suffered a massive stroke last fall and then underwent major heart surgery in May. This procedure left him with a mechanical pump implanted in his heart, requiring him to carry a battery pack that must be worn at all times. He is now gaining strength and is awaiting a heart transplant. Our prayers and heartfelt wishes are with him and his wife Erin.

For decades, his beautiful playing and warm spirit have uplifted many hearts. Now, we would like to give something back. In his honor, we are proud to introduce the limited edition "Pete Huttlinger Signature OM1" model. National Style O 14 Single Cone Brass Body with Etched Bright Nickel Finish

Due, in part, to Mark Knopfler's use of the instrument on many Dire Straits records; this is the one most people imagine when they think of the famed National namesake.

National's reproduction Style O-14 Fret meets the demands of players needing easier access to the higher frets. Based on the original 1937 model, the hard rock maple neck clears 14 frets to the body. The brass body is made of thin gauge material polished to a mirror-like shine, nickel plated and etched with the traditional Hawaiian scene. The chicken-foot coverplate, formed back, and inlaid rosewood peghead complete the authentic look of this guitar.

We were saddened when the original Composite Acoustic company, based in Lafayette, LA closed it's doors. However, when the news that Peavey  had taken over came out, it made a good thing even better!While Peavey is currently producing instruments, this is an original instrument from the original company.

The X is a thin bodied, lightweight, comfortable full scale guitar with amazing power and tone. Ideal for electric guitar players looking to crossover into the acoustic world, the X is fitted with an L.R Baggs iMix pickup system; giving you complete control of your tone. The X is braced with Composite Acoustics' optimized performance tuned lightweight carbon fiber bracing for a quick and clean response - excellent for chord strumming and flat picking both.

Composite Acoustics, being made almost entirely of Carbon Fiber, are impervious to changes in temperature and humidity. In fact, at the Winter NAMM show, 2 CA guitars were on display beneath running waterfalls, to demonstrate that water will do nothing to these guitars. Finally, there are guitars that not only sound incredible, but can be left in a cold car overnight, or even out in the hot sun at a festival. Forget humidification, you simply don't need it with a Composite Acoustic! The neck will never bow... there isn't even a truss rod to adjust, since there will NEVER be a need to.

While we cannot be sure of the build date of this instrument, it is in excellent condition. The Santa Cruz D Pre War DPW is a solid wood dreadnought-sized guitar designed to be able to provide the sophisticated tone and playability SCGC has become famous for at a price below anything available from SCGC for many years. This guitar incorporates all of Santa Cruz's extensive experience in making acoustic guitars, and puts it to work in an elegant but simpler format.

The PW refers to pre-war, or advanced X bracing. The bracing style gives the guitar an incredible presence and bass response yet retains a good balance with strong midrange and bright powerful treble response. The advanced X bracing also makes the guitar very responsive for fingerstyle playing as well as powerful rhythm playing.

The tone of this 2011 Santa Cruz DPW is very round and contains the Santa Cruz string balance we have grown to love.  Lead notes are full and thick on every string, all the way up and down the neck.  The volume this guitar is capable of puts many dreadnoughts to shame and will be a monster in jam sessions with other stringed instruments.  The Sitka Spruce top keeps the guitar very responsive and versatile with lush low end and silky smooth highs in a highly responsive and playable dreadnought.

2011 Collings 01SB Custom Sitka Spruce and Mahogany

When we ordered two small bodied Collings 01s, little did we know that Tommy Emmanuel would be picking one up and adding this fine model to his considerable collection of instruments. We still can’t get over just how much projection and volume these little darlins’ kick out! This one is no exception, an ample voice in a little body. Collings guitars have always been highly regarded for their signature tone and their ever-apparent high quality construction.

With the exception of the Baby, the 0 is Collings’ smallest guitar and is offered with the same shorter scale found on the 12-fret 00. Measuring only 13.5 inches in width, the Collings 0 has tone and volume that belies its first impression as being less than full-sized. The focused, crisp tone lends itself perfectly to country style fingerpicking and down-trodden blues alike. The Sitka top is a bit more mellow and rounded than it’s 01ASB Adirondack sibling, but certainly a welcome addition for lighter attack and bare fingers. Fingerstyle players with a discriminating touch will love the shimmering highs of this particular single 0. Small bodied aficionados may rethink their love of 000's and 00's after playing one of these guitars. The top is appointed with Collings'  Gorgeous Style 1 sunburst, and the ebony fretboard has a 1-3/4" nut width rather than the standard 1-11/16th.

Living up to the standards Collings’ has established for themselves, this Collings 01Sb makes us proud to be a Collings dealer.

2011 Collings D2H Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the first to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.

The standard D2H is ideal for players who find Adirondack Red Spruce too stiff for their style. Sitka Spruce is a versatile topwood that accentuates the warm round aspects of the guitar's tone. Indian Rosewood is warm and rounded with complex overtones. The D2H is a powerful dreadnought without any compromise.

Santa Cruz 1929-00 Mahogany Custom Full Body Sunburst Finish

When players start discussing tone, the conversation inevitably turns to vintage instruments. Maybe it stems from a reverence and longing for a bygone era, but it's hard to deny the magic in an instrument with rich history and unmistakable tone that only gets better with the passage of time.

In the past, we have commissioned a limited run of some remarkably special instruments from our short list of select builders. So when the idea of all Mahogany construction came up, the name Santa Cruz shortly followed. The 1929 Depression Era 00-17 is presented as an heirloom quality instrument from Santa Cruz Guitars, designed with simpler appointments reflecting the era, yet with all the mojo you would expect from a guitar with such a special namesake. Their selection of Mahogany tone woods offers snap and sparkle, a dry and airy tone - tone that hangs on to every note with ease.

The fine builders at Santa Cruz and wanted to insure this guitar would be an accurate representation of the era. In keeping with its nostalgic look of the 1920s - it bares a custom Santa Cruz headstock logo reminiscent of the era, inlaid in grained ivoroid. With one look it's clear that even designer Raymond Loewy would be proud to have designed it. The body is bound in Mahogany, a subtle addition we can not imagine the guitar without. Coupled with an elegantly appointed top, a simple two line rosette of grained ivoroid and single line purfling on the top and sides - our patience has been rewarded.

The 1929 Series was originally introduced as a limited run of 12 instruments, made exclusively for and designed with Artisan Guitars.  In fact, Bill took home number 13... the only guitar he has purchased for himself since opening the shop.

The finishing touch on this particular 1929 guitar is the custom full body sunburst over the highly impressive set of Mahogany. This finish and wood combination instantly set the guitar apart visually from our other 1929 models.

Pre-Owned: Ibanez 2461 NT

Hoshino Gakki started as a bookstore company in 1908, and began importing guitars under the Salvador Ibanez name in 1929. Hoshino bought the Ibanez company name and started making guitars themselves in 1935. In the 1970's American guitar manufacturers were making poorer and poorer versions of their mainstay guitars, so Ibanez jumped in and started "copying" famous brand looks at a budget price. These copies were so good that Gibson sued the Hoshino company and now the Japanese guitars of this era are called the "lawsuit" guitars. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, consider this guitar a valentine to the Gibson Guitar Company. In the early 70's Ibanez set out to make high-precision replicas of Gibson's top-end instruments. So successful were they that Gibson sued to stop production, which was subsequently halted under court order.

This model was manufactured from 1975 through 1977. It is closely modeled after a Gibson Johnny Smith model with the exception of the top of the peghead and the peghead inlay, however, it features laminated wood body construction, rather than solid construction as on a Gibson and the neck lamination is also different from a Gibson.

The tone of this instrument is absolutely phenomenal! We plugged this one into a Carr Rambler, and was instantly able to conjure sounds like; Jim Hall, Johnny Smith, Wes, Kenny Burrell, Herb Ellis, you name it, this one can do it. This instrument has numerous scratches throughout as you would expect from an instrument from this era, all are indicated in the pictures below. Additionally, it has belt rash on the back and top as well as minor fretwear on the B and High E in the first and second position. The finish is peeling around the tuners. We believe the original pickguard was changed from dual pickup to single pickup configuration. Includes a non original hardshell case. Crafted from old-growth Mahogany harvested, air dried, and stored since the 1920’s, the ‘34 D Mahogany has earned it’s right of passage in belonging to the same dynasty as the Santa Cruz ‘34 D Brazilian.

Perhaps more Martin-esque than any powerhouse dreadnought from the Santa Cruz stables until now, the ‘34 D Mahogany will most assuredly become legendary with future collectors and discerning players.

Formula: Old growth Mahogany + old growth Adirondack + nitro top finish + hide glue construction + Adirondack bracing… Add a bit of magic dust from Richard Hoover’s gifted hands = A rocket ship from the past! What a blast!!

As described in detail, by the founder of Santa Cruz Guitar Company, Richard Hoover - “Wood does get better with age. Most certainly when is comes to resonance. The polymerization of resins over decades, once the wood is removed from the living tree, is one of the secrets to the superior tone of antique violins and guitars. This process turns sticky tree sap into sparklingly vibrant, crystal-like transmitters of sound.

Santa Cruz Guitar Company puts this phenomenon to practical use in the 1934 D Mahogany Model. These instrument are made from woods harvested in the golden age of lutherie prior to the mid 20th century.

The perfect quality Mahogany back and sides were retrieved from 50 plus years of storage from a barn in New England. Originally procured from the highest grade old lumber and dimensioned for the Dagger Boards of vintage sailing prams it was then “put up” to season. Our colleague had worked on the acquisition of this material for many years before securing it. This timber is the quality reverently referred to by wood aficionados as Caribbean or Cuban.

A parallel source for the D ‘34M edition is a limited stock of the same kind of true Mahogany resurrected from the Bronx workshop of the master cabinet maker for the NYC schools in the first half of the 20th century. Both examples are of a density and tone quality not to be found in contemporary fast growing trees or managed forests. It is the perfect match between our philosophy of using responsibly harvested timbers and the best possible tone woods. To this ideal combination we add the tonal benefit of decades of seasoning and the tension free techniques of historical lutherie to deliver an exceptional instrument worthy of comparison to the 1934 originals..”

This custom ordered instrument has been appointed with such understated appointments as a gorgeous figured Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, simple 2mm dot inlays on the fretboard, and SCGC logo has been moved from the fretboard to the headstock. These appointments only help to further the vintage look of this extraordinary piece of craftsmanship and history. In the coming decades, these 1934 D' will secure an almost certain place in the pantheon of the best.

Based on guitars first introduced around the same time as the OM, the Collings C10 is a leaner alternative, with the narrow waist and small upper bout resulting in a precise, focused response.  The smaller upper bout is gratifying and a true dream to play. It's this unique body size that allows the C10 to project a more focused mid-range then other smaller bodied guitars. This mid-range is combined with a crisp low-end and rounded, mellow trebles.  Of all of Collings' acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile.

This C10 is built with an all-mahogany body so the tone is immediately responsive with a warm, clear tone with a nice sparkle on the high end.  The 1 3/4" nut width makes gives you plenty of room for complex chord shapes while the ivoroid bindings on the body, neck, and peghead compliment the full-body sunburst finish perfectly, providing a very classy finishing touch. The C10 is an ideal accompaniment for complex chordal playing, as well as down home blues - Piedmont style! The Bass response is immediately noticeable from this smaller bodied guitar, while it never sacrifices the clarity that this body size provides.

The Dreadnought: the design that introduced boutique lutherie. In the early 1970's, it was the rare player who would consider any guitar smaller than a dreadnought. Stellar players were handicapped by the traditional D's predominate bass and thin trebles. The strength of the typical dreadnought guitar is in its power and volume, which are achieved by the guitar's large body size. The increased air space also gives the instrument a predisposition to the bass range, an asset to some playing styles and a detriment to others. The Santa Cruz D Model has a unique tapered bracing, voiced to enhance the midrange and treble without compromising the bass volume. This voicing gives the D Model a more even balance and a greater versatility than traditionally braced dreadnoughts.

The Santa Cruz Guitar Company Dreadnought Model was carefully conceived to accommodate the modern player's need for sophisticated balance with more substance in midrange and treble. To deliver these qualities in the acceptable dreadnought-sized body required a very non-traditional approach, as compared to the factory offerings of the day. Using time honored lutherie skills, SCGC created a Trojan Horse - familiar on the outside, dangerous on the inside. SCGC's innovative D Model remains a mainstay of artists who require acoustic volume without compromising the quality of higher frequencies.

This special Santa Cruz Custom D model was made in 2000 and features a stunning set of flamed Koa on the back and sides.  Koa, like Mahogany, has a relatively high velocity of sound when considered as materials for backs and sides and thus contribute much to overtone coloration. Where rosewood guitars can be thought of as having a reverby, sometimes "metallic" sound, mahogany and koa guitars are better described as sounding "woody."  Between the two, koa seems to have a little more fullness in the midrange, while mahogany tends to favor the bass (to some extent) and the treble.  The Koa on this guitar is rich and powerful with a focus in the midrange that seems to fall in between mahogany and rosewood.  The high end is crystal clear without being overpowering.  The tapered X bracing is advanced so that the bass is not lost with Koa back and sides.

This guitar also features a custom nut width of 1 3/4" which makes playing complex chord shapes a breeze.  The fretboard and headstock are bound in Ivoroid and is a classy upgrade on this D model.  The dalmatian pickgaurd and ebony tuner buttons seal the deal... this guitar is gorgeous!

This guitar shows a single dent on the top below the pickguard, shown in the photograph.  There is a few spots where the finish is checking around the bindings, common as Nitro finishes age, also pictured.  There is a blemish on the upper bout that was in the wood at the factory before the finish was applied, also pictured. National's Style N is the same guitar as the Style O, without the etched Hawaiian scene.  This particular model is built with German Silver. This material, used for the body and coverplate, is the same alloy used by the Dopyera Brothers to create the first National Tricone guitars in the late 1920's.  German Silver produces a bit more clarity and focus than the bell-like brass bodies.  The tone is a bit mellower and more controlled, with a bit less reverberation and overtones and a more extended low end.

The National Style N-14 Fret reproduction meets the demands of players needing easier access to the higher frets. Based on the original models, the hard rock maple neck clears 14 frets to the body. The German Silver body is made of thin gauge material polished to a mirror-like shine and nickel plated. The coverplate, formed back, and inlaid rosewood peghead complete the authentic look of this guitar.

Hard to distinguish used from new this 2011 National Style N-14 German Silver is in pristine condition. There are a few light buff scratches to the back as well as the top, that are more than likely from the factory, these can be seen in the photographs below.
