New for 2009, the Triolian 14-Fret captures the look and feel of the late 1930’s W-Series Triolians. The name refers to the original cone design of the first 12 prototype models, which had a single cone top covering up a tri-cone setup inside. They kept the name, even after switching to a single-cone design for the production models.
The thin-gauge steel body is highlighted by a formed back and traditional ribbed sieve-hole coverplate and provides increased resonance over the traditional thicker steel bodies. Each body is hand painted in walnut-burst. The maple neck clears 14 frets to the body and features an ivoroid-bound rosewood fretboard complete with inlaid mother-of-pearl position markers. Tuners are vintage-style engraved, open gear.
This Triolian sounds incredible... it is loud, punchy, and brash yet defined on single note runs and chordal figures. The 14 fret neck allows easy access when playing with a slide or fingers. The signature sound of the early models of the 30's were made famous by Delta Blues players such as Blind Boy Fuller and these current models will blow the originals out of the water. If you are a Delta Blues piedmont style player, this is your instrument!
