The OM Pre-War Model is designed with many of the features in bracing and tone that the emerging singer-songwriter, the working musician, or a serious amateur will find desirable at a price before unheard of in guitars of this caliber.
The advanced X braces, which is the bracing pattern Pre-War refers to, is a good tonal option for those using the guitar for smaller accompaniment or rhythm. This style bracing gives the smaller bodied OM an incredible presence and bass response, yet retains a good balance with strong midrange and bright powerful response. The OM/PW is always a shop favorite for that reason... it sounds so good and responds so well, players never want to put it down.
Adirondack Spruce is featured on the top of this Santa Cruz OM PW... and it certainly excels in this configuration. Adirondack is the stiffest tonewood and is capable of virtually unlimited headroom and volume. Adirondack is quick and defined with a clarity that few other tonewoods offer. Mahogany guitars are known for being extremely well suited to the recording studio, requiring little EQ to achieve the desired tone. It is a highly reflective tonewood and produces a mid-range that rosewood typically doesn't offer. The tone of mahogany guitars is very defined, with lots of clarity and a dry, vintage tone.
This Custom OM/PW Cutaway is presented with understated appointments to emphasize master grade materials, tone and workmanship over decoration. The PW version is perfect for the aficionado that loves the OM's versatility and ergonomics though prefers additional bass for traditional picking styles and impressive rhythm work.
