CAAS Convention:
The Chet Atkins Appreciation Society, otherwise known as the CAAS Convention, has been meeting in Nashville each summer since 1985. This singular musical event is unprecedented as one of Nashville’s best kept secrets amongst fingerstyle & thumb-picking aficionado’s around the world.
Each year, players from around the world migrate to Nashville, to gather at the Sheraton Music City to celebrate the life contributions & music of Chet Atkins. We gather both as fans and players, to continue to learn, to listen, to exchange licks, and share some story telling about Chet.
The atmosphere is cheerful, with players jamming in hallways, on terraces, the lounge, & patio. There are workshops with your favorite players, continual stage performances, and entertainment from all genres of music.
This year’s Chet Atkins Tribute Show:
Since 2005, we have kicked off the convention with a Tuesday night concert, featuring world class guitarists who will be attending the convention. We hope you will plan to join us for our 5th annual Chet Atkins Tribute Show… This year’s line-up is nothing short of spectacular!
Planning dinner before the event? You can make dinner reservations with our co-sponsor Saffire Restaurant & Bar, located just a few steps away from the entrance to Jamison Hall. Or, you can plan to enjoy some of their delicious appetizers-tapas plates & drink during the event, directly from the kitchen & bar located in the rear of Jamison Hall. The food is excellent, and the service is delightful!

2010 Show SOLD OUT!

Its bound double-cutaway hollow body features an arched top, parallel tone bar bracing and simulated f holes; the two-piece maple neck has a bound ebony fingerboard with zero fret and mother-of-pearl Neo Classic™ thumbnail inlays.
Other features include dual High Sensitive Filter’Tron™ pickups, three-position pickup switch, three-position master tone switch, standby switch, gold plexi pickguard, bound headstock with gold headstock nameplate and gold-plated Grover® Rotomatic® tuners, gold-plated hardware, 12-string Adjusto-Matic™ bridge, “G”-cutout tailpiece and beautiful walnut stain finish.
The Gentleman itself debuted in mid-1957, after considerable input from Chet Atkins. The Closed body was a concession to Atkins, who was reportedly hounding Gretsch to produce a semi-hollow guitar with a solid block through the center capable of more sustain with less feedback. The Gentleman is a compromise, containing only a partial block down the center with sealed, imitation f-holes.
The FilterTron pickups feature dual-coils that are designed to "filter" out the electronic hum normally associated with single-coil pickups, while adding a warmer tone and a significantly increasing the output and sustain.
This guitar has some scratches on the headstock, as pictured. The plastic is still on the pickguard, but is bubbled up, as seen in the photographs below. Original hardshell case included.

Think back to the classic 60's rock song "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" by Herman's Hermits and try to imagine how you would replicate that unique guitar sound. It's a tone we haven't heard much since that decade and was made possible thanks to a Gretsch Country Gentleman with the string dampers activated, a feature not possible even on most Country Gentlemans.
This Professional Series CG122-1962 has those exact style of string dampers, one for the bass strings and one for the treble strings which rest in between the bridge and the treble pickup. Each can be raised so that they touch the strings, created that famous "half-muted" sound, just like on the Hermits track.

From driving rhythm to ripping leads, the classic double-cutaway CG122-1962 Country Gentleman has it all! Features include dual High Sensitive Filter'Tron™ pickups, "tone switch" circuitry, "action-flow" neck, double mutes, back pad and Bigsby® B6G vibrato tailpiece. This is the real thing, or at least as close as a modern guitar can get! Nothing else comes close for that cool swing, hip rockabilly or twanging' country sound.
This instrument is difficult to distinguish from new. Hardshell case included.

From Chet to Bo, and from The Reverend Horton Heat to Brain Setzer, the Gretsch sound has defined rock and roll, country, and rockabilly. This modern version of the classic 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar features a 16"-wide, 2.5"-deep full hollow body, rock maple neck, ebony fingerboard with Neo-Classic "thumbnail" inlays, dual High Sensitive Filter'Tron pickups, Grover Rotomatic machine heads, Adjusto-Matic bridge, and Bigsby B6G vibrato tailpiece.
The Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body is the one that started it all. When Gretsch approached Chet--already on his way to "legendary" status--in 1954 about designing his own model, the 6120 was the result, and it quickly became one of the company's most popular models. The 6120 was present at the birth of Rock 'n' Roll, and remains a favorite to this day among players of all ages and musical genres. Today, Gretsch is proud to offer a stable of 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar that are fully equipped and ready to rock!
The FilterTron pickup features dual-coils that are designed to "filter" out the electronic hum normally associated with single-coil pickups, while adding a warmer tone and a significantly increasing the output and sustain. This guitar was originally designed in conjunction with Chet Atkins for his particular playing and sound. This guitar achieves Chet personal touches, at a workingman's price.
With its eye-opening tiger flame maple top, sides and back, the G6120TM is a real stunner. This Guitar features the classic combination of Filter-tron's and a Bigsby. There is no other guitar that can copy this sound. Nothing comes close for that cool swing, hip rockabilly or twanging' country.
This guitar shows some oxidation on the gold hardware, common for a guitar this age. There is light finish scratching on the front and back that could not be photographed. There are a few tiny marks on the headstock, shown in the photograph. Hardshell case included.
