Our good friend John Knowles c.g.p. stopped by for a visit today, to catch us up on recent events in his musical life. Always good to see John, especially since he brought us a nice gift, a copy of Tommy Emmanuel's new holiday CD, "All I Want for Christmas", featuring holiday classics and some great artists - including guitarist John Knowles (and some other good friends, Kim Person & Pam Rose)!
Here's the back story announcing this CD compilation on John's website:
"One Spring morning while Tommy Emmanuel and I were having coffee, he
brought up the idea of doing a Christmas album. Before I knew it, we had
our guitars out and were playing "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" on
the porch of the coffee shop. For the next few months, Tommy, Kim Person,
Tina Simpson and I emailed, phoned, Skyped and downloaded... preparing
for the day we would record this special music for you. I hope these songs
bring joy to your heart for many Christmases to come."
From the liner notes:
- "Engineered by Kim Person at Beech Creek Studio, Brentwood, TN.
- Assistant Engineer: Aaron Cieslikowski.
- Mixed by Kim Person at Wistaria Studio a div. of Cimirron / Rainbird Recordings, Yorktown, VA.
- Mastered by Bill Wolf at Wolf Productions Arlington, VA."
Special Thanks To:
Music-City Johnny for all his help, ideas, love, playing and enthusiasm for this album. Hope we can do it again, pal. Thanks to Kim Person for her usual great work recording / mixing / mastering / producing. Kim makes recording so much fun and inspires me with the sounds she gets on my guitars. Thanks to Tina for helping me get the melodies right on some of these beautiful tunes. It's important! To all musicians who added their touch to these songs... THANK YOU.
Tina Simpson, Julie Lastinger, Joanna Binford, Rebecca Kiekenapp, Gina Mendello, Clara Rolls, Pam Rose, Aaron Cieslikowski, Mike Gay, Cotten Music Center, Artisan Guitars, Fido Coffee House and Restaurant, and Sam and Zoe's Coffee House and Cafe.
