1960s Martin Mahogany Ukulele

Established in 1833 by German emigre C.F. Martin, the Martin Guitar Company of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, soon became world renowned for making some of the world's finest guitars. It was during the start of the ukulele craze. This was in the early part of this century when Martin started making ukuleles. Today these ukes are without peer and are some of the most highly sought after by collectors. Even Hawaiian musicians, especially the old timers, have a special place in their hearts for Martin ukuleles. Go ahead and check out the specs on this Martin Mahogany Ukulele.

Martin ukuleles are world-renowned, and possess a lasting, rich tone that cannot be duplicated. They are considered by many to be the finest ever made for craftsmenship and sound. A close look at a Martin ukulele will show their attention to detail. Demand for older Martin ukes has increased dramatically in recent years. Some older fancy models have been selling in the thousands of dollars.

The concert ukulele is an intermediate size between the standard(soprano) and tenor. The concert has a fuller tone, while retaining the ease of the smaller sized standard model. This ukulele is truely something sepcial... between Martin's craftsmanship and the time this instrument has had to age, the tone of this ukulele is very open and woody with incredible focus that could cut through any mix.

This vintage 1960s concert ukulele features simplified appointments. These include Tortoise binding with black/white top purfle, Rosewood Fretboard and Bridge, Ebony Nut, and a Carbon Fiber Saddle installed by our technician here at Artisan Guitars.

This 1960's Martin Uke is missing the inside label and we are unsure if it's exact build year and serial number. This ukulele is a player's instrument. The finish is checked throughout the top and back and in some instances the finish is peeling. Structurally this ukulele is in excellent condition. It has received repairs to ensure the integrity of the instrument. The tuners have been replaced with Geared Tuners. The original Friction Tuners are included and can be seen in the photographs below. Hardshell Case Included.
