2002 Collings MT2R A-Style Mandolin Adirondack Spruce and Red Maple
The MT2 is Collings' fully appointed A-model with a seasoned Red spruce top and premium maple back and sides. With its superb tone, elegant styling and unmatched playability, the Collings MT2 is sure to please the most discerning eyes and ears.
This model has a mellow sound with great clarity and responsiveness. It's been played enough over the past 10 years that it has opened up quite nicely and doesn't require to heavy of pick attack to make it sing. It's got a strong, dry chop that will be a welcome rhythm section to any ensemble.
This mandolin does show wear. There are numerous dents, dings and finish scratches throughout the instrument, as the detail photographs will show. There is some binding separation happening in a few areas, also photographed. There is some slight de-lamination down the back along the book-match. We believe this was likely due to low humidity at some time in the past, though the instrument is currently stable and humidified properly. The frets are in great shape and show little to no wear. Collings hardshell case included.
