It is said we all get to choose what we do with our lives, but in my experience, that’s not strictly true. The passion that was born in my teen years – learning to play the guitar and piano, playing in my neighborhood rock band, and launching imported Bedell Guitars in 1964 – is still a part of me today. I am compelled to live each day in the world of music. When I re-launched Bedell Guitars in 2009, after a four-decade hiatus, it was an emotional decision – not a rational or economically driven pursuit.

The Bedell Angelica Bellisima is built to be a fingerstyle cannon. This 12-fret parlor style guitar features an Old Growth Western Red Cedar Top over a highly figured Indian Rosewood back and sides.

Cedar is less dense than spruce, and that softness typically translates into a sense of sonic warmth. If Sitka has a full dynamic range, cedar makes quieter tones louder, but it also imposes more of a ceiling on high volume levels driven by an aggressive attack.

The set of highly figured Indian Rosewood is not only gorgeous, but yet makes for a tonaly complex guitar. The combination of sunken cedar and indian rosewood gives the fingerstylist all the warmth and clarity her or she would need.
