Maton Guitars Solid Road Series SRS-60C Dreadnought - 16312

This lovely SRS-60C was originally purchased from Artisan Guitars in September of 2020. It has been gently used and responsibly cared for. You will find light pick marks on the pick guard, and otherwise it conforms to a proper factory setup spec and sounds amazing!

It was already quite responsive when new, owing to its light, thin-coat lacquer finish. Now it is played in a bit and has an even bigger voice. Note the earlier 2020 spec too, because this one has a Rosewood bridge and fingerboard creating a sweet chime in the upper register (think "60's era J45).

Originally used as a Mahogany "substitute", Queensland Maple has become the backbone of the Maton sound. It is used in nearly every Maton either as a neck, back & sides, or internal component.

A rainforest hardwood from Northern Queensland, this timber is light, strong, and visually striking. Queensland Maple is extremely well balanced with an even response across all frequencies. If you are looking for the secret to Maton's great tone, this is a good place to start. Combined with the Sitka Spruce top you have a powerful yet balanced full sized dreadnought.

Not many builders offer a full sized dreadnought with a cutaway option, though Maton has been listening to performers longer than most guitar luthiers. They understand player's needs and build the quality tools to support their music.

A forward shifting of the X braces and the shifting of scallop peaks to nodal points around the soundboard help to enhance the vibration of the top. The shifting of the X braces also allows the inclusion of a second, parallel tone bar which allows the scalloping of both tone bars, and spreads the load while reducing mass.

Adjusted bracing heights as well as a locked 15 foot radius for the arch of the back, gave Maton the plate resonance separation they look for between top and back.

In its 5th generation, the AP5 Original features a 6-Piezo bridge input, with 3-Band EQ controls that allow for a maximum range of blending the Bass register through high end Trebles.

Using the ‘Sweep-able Mid’ controls. Mid-range is sweep-able from 600Hz to 2.4kHz and can be cut or boosted within this range. As a general rule we start out with all settings ‘flat’ then alter them to achieve the desired tone & presence based on the venue or recording environment. For example, an open, natural sound can be achieved by setting the frequency control at 1.4khz and the boost/cut control at 5db. Alternatively, for a ‘thick’ lead sound boost your Mid's by 5 db and set the frequency dial at 1.7kh.
