Collings' offers the 00 in its original, 12-fret configuration, a guitar shape that was first designed around the time of the Civil War. Its dimensions are similar to a typical classical guitar, with a slotted headstock and small pyramid bridge. The comfortable size and timeless appearance of the Collings 00 is matched by the ease of playing a wide neck and shorter string scale affords. The tone is balanced and precise, and we've seen it adopted for a wide range of playing styles from simple vocal accompaniment to ragtime solos. When you want the durability of a modern guitar but one that appears rooted in an earlier, simpler time, the Collings 00 is the perfect choice.
This particular 001 features an all mahogany body which keeps the tone very clear with lots of definition for fingerstyle playing. A surprising amount of low end means chords are rich and lush, balancing the clear high end of the mahogany quite nicely. This guitar is quite responsive whether played soft or loud... it maintains balance throughout the dynamic spectrum.
This Collings 001 features custom appointments such as 1 3/4" nut width and 2 3/16" bridge spacing. The wider string spacing is often preferred by many fingerstyle players. This Collings 001 also features custom herringbone top purfling. If you've been looking for a Collings all-mahogany 00, look no further... this is your guitar!
