Collings 02H 12 Fret with Baked Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood
The Collings "0" has tone and volume that belies its first impression as being less than full-sized. It can double as a travel guitar or a small OM, performing both roles equally well. You know the feeling when you're holding that guitar? - this is that guitar. This combination of Baked Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood has become one of the most popular from Collings Guitars.
With the exception of the Baby, the "0" is Collings smallest guitar and is offered with the same 24 7/8" shorter scale found on the 12-fret 00. Although measuring only 13.5 inches in width (smaller than a typical classical guitar). The same neck and woods options offered with larger Collings models are available on the 0 as well, giving players an almost infinite range of tonal possibilities.
This new 12-fret 0 body size features an elegant slotted peghead, 1 3/4" nut width, and comfortable 24 7/8" scale length. It features the standard 02H appointments including Cross-cut grained ivoroid and wood nitrate rosette, Grained ivoroid top/back body binding, Herringbone trim with matching 2-style backstrip and a custom Baked Sitka Spruce top.
The custom Baked Sitka Spruce top is a favorite tone wood here at Artisan due to it's versatility when played finger style or flat picked. Sitka Spruce offers rich, complex overtones and regarding stiffness, falls in between Sitka and Adirondack. It takes to a flat pick beautifully, but sings with bare fingers as well.
The Indian Rosewood brings the guitar balance and warmth, and when coupled with the Baked top wood, brings the guitar strong fundamentals, quick response, warm round trebles, and can be strummed or finger-picked with ease.
