Collings CW Custom w/ Adirondack & Brazilian Rosewood

The Collings Winfield (or Collings CW) is a reissue of the famous Collings Clarence White model. Clarence White lead the way in presenting the acoustic guitar as a lead instrument in bluegrass music. It features an enlarged soundhole, bringing more projection, improving the listening experience for both player and audience; and the absence of the tongue brace - which helps bring even more resonance and volume. It also features a ebony bridge with 2 3/16" string spacing and a cut-through saddle.

Collings describes the Winfield on their website as: "a highly modified version of our standard dreadnought that features options commonly requested by flatpicking specialists. The combination of the stiff Adirondack spruce top with enlarged soundhole, supported by a top bracing pattern based on the earliest 14-fret dreadnoughts, make the Collings CW a bluegrass powerhouse. Everything about this model is designed to provide plenty of headroom and projection for aggressive playing, but not at the expense of good tone.

Full rich basses are complemented by clear, singing trebles with great clarity and sustain. The enlarged soundhole removes some of the "woofy" basses that so often plague larger instruments, especially in the recording process. The enlargement allows you to tailor the sound by placing a mic a bit closer to the soundhole with much less proximity effect, resulting in a more immediate and balanced sound, often heard on Tony Rice recordings. Chordal runs are clear and concise, individual notes are distinct, and single note solos are loud and defined. The removal of the tongue brace allows the top to resonate freely which makes this guitar a Bluegrass no brainer!

Brazilian Rosewood is an extremely rare tonewood. It has deep bass and brilliant trebles that was used on the famous vintage guitars that we have all grown to love. An international trade embargo on Brazilian rosewood products guarantees that the relatively few sets remaining in this country will continue to spiral in price as the supply dwindles.

Brazilian brings remarkable darkness, depth, and warmth; while exhibiting glorious overtones across the entire tonal spectrum.

This Custom CW has also been customized features like: Adirondack Braces, and a lack of a tongue brace.

This Pre-Owned Guitar is in Very Good Condition w/ light scratches on the pickguard, and a few very light scratches on the back. There is also very light natural finish sinking throughout the back and sides.
