Collings MT Mandolin Gloss Engelmann Top Maple Back
Master luthiers in Austin Texas craft some of the finest mandolins made. A Collings MT mandolin is built with the best seasoned Englemann spruce and eastern flamed maple available. If you are graduating from an entry level mandolin you couldn't pick a better instrument to move into than a Collings. Pick this mandolin up and you will notice details like the clean F-Holes on the top that were cut after the finish was applied to ensure a thin, even finish across the top and exceptionally elegant lines. The soundholes are paired with dual tone bar bracing for excellent projection and bright articulate tone.see there is nothing entry-level about it. Collings places equal emphasis on tone, "fit and finish" and playability no matter the price point.
A Collings standard MT has a satin finish on the top and the back. However, this Collings MT features a custom gloss finish on the fully carved Engelmann Spruce top which sweetens the tone a bit. Engelmann is highly responsive without requiring a heavy pick attack. Known for it's warm, lush, thick sounds it also has a smooth high end and punchy midrange. It doesn't need to be played hard to sound great. The back and sides and neck are made of hand selected Eastern Flamed Maple giving this a bright articulate sound.
Each mandolin is built with a combination of PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing to give you a comforable set up with a silky fret feel. The Fingerboard radius is a compound 5 1/2" to 11 5/8". A V-shaped neck profile and 1 9/16" strings spacing creates playability that is versatile for a wide range of playing styles.
