Collings "Squat" Jumbo

A holy grail find for any Collings guitar fan, this extremely rare Collings Jumbo, nicknamed the "Squat", was custom built in 1993. With very little known about this jumbo, our information from Collings suggests that only 10-12 of these beautiful instruments were ever made!

This Jumbo was built with a popular tonewood combination of Sitka & Hawaiian Koa. Sitka Spruce is ideal for players who find Adirondack Red Spruce too punchy, bright, and stiff - but do not want to sacrifice on clarity. Sitka Spruce is a versatile topwood that accentuates the warm round aspects of the guitar's tone. Koa's tone blends the midrange of mahogany with the top end of maple. Due to its density, a new koa guitar tends to start out sounding a little bright and tight, somewhat like maple. But the more a koa guitar is played, the more the sound opens up, expanding the midrange and rewarding the player with a richer, sweeter, more resonant tone.

This Jumbo is 26 years old and the Koa has opened up nicely, giving a very balanced tone mixed with a warmer midrange that can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! The body has a very comfortable arm bevel, and feels absolutely wonderful when playing! This "Squat" has been appointed with a very beautiful tropical drink peghead inlay(matched with the palm tree on the fretboard) that makes you feel like you should be sipping a pina colada on a beach somewhere! The comfortable C shape neck will have you playing for hours with no fatigue, giving your creativity the chance to run wild! Don't miss out on this piece of Collings History!

This Pre-Owned Guitar is in Very Good Condition w/ Some light scratches on the pickguard, natural finish sinking throughout the body, and some very light dings scattered throughout the body(see photos).
