Maton Body Sizes - For Reference & Comparison

Founded in 1946, Maton Guitars of Melbourne Australia has developed many unique models over the years.

Their most popular model is currently the 808 body size, which is slightly smaller on the face than our Orchestra Model here in the U.S. However, it is built as a "dreadnought depth" body, offering added interior air space for more power from the smaller body.

Their Maton Mini series is also quite popular, with a number of players who use them for live performance (Keith Urban in particular). With the short scale and small body, the Mini is designed as an adult travel guitar, with many different tone wood options. They are available in both 6 and 12 string versions (as well as Lefty's). Packaged with their AP5-PRO electronics, they recreate the sound of a full sized guitar.

The Maton Dreadnought body shape is more commonly recognized as a Slope Dreadnought, aka J-45 body shape. Available in both cutaway and non-cutaway, this is a depicts what Bill May had on his mind in the '60's (Gibson, not Martin). Even their Jumbo body shape can resemble the J-200 of that era.

The Maton neck profile is similar on all their models, best described as a "Soft C" shape. It is slightly deeper than a Taylor neck profile, with no center line like a "Modified V" from Martin or Collings.
