If they were passing out awards for "road warrior" Maton guitars, this 2014 808-TE model would have earned its place in history.

Originally sold when new to one of our local Maton fans, it has returned home to start a new journey.

Worth noting, this Tommy Emmanuel Signature 808 has been well played, yet it has excellent action and sounds great. Here are the details:

• The factory satin nitro finish has numerous "shiny areas" as do most Maton guitars that have been played. The areas captured in our photos are pretty standard, back of the neck, bass side lower bout, and a small area on back of the bass side (where it would lean in to your body while sitting).
• The action measures 5/64" at the 12th fret Low E and 2/32" for the High E. The original bone saddle has been lowered slightly, and these string height measurements include some positive relief (plenty of distance remaining in the truss rod to setup even lower).
• There is some slight fret wear on the 2nd string, frets 1 through 3.
• At some point in its life, the soundboard (top) center seam had separated, likely due to not being properly humidified during one of Nashville's harsh winters. It has been professionally cleated and is stable.
• The AP5-Pro electronics have been tested and function as new.
• Comes with an original Hiscox Flight case branded with the Maton logo, case candy, and original keys.
• Overall condition is very good for its age (12 years old).

This pre-owned Maton will make someone a nice addition to their collection and the opportunity to explore what Maton has to offer, with an attractive price.

As was the spec in 2014, this EBG-808-TE was built with Indian Rosewood bridge and fingerboard (specs changed around 2016-17). This adds a bit of warmth to the tone.

The Maton AP5-Pro Electronics

In its 5th generation, the AP5 Pro features an internal Microphone and 6-Piezo bridge input, with controls that allow for blending of both microphone and piezo levels prior to sending the actively combined signals through the well engineered pre-amp.

The highly selective cardioid microphone system allows for much greater microphone level before feedback in live environments. This upgraded AP5-Pro microphone is direct mounted to the pre-amp casing with an adjustable arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artist's playing style.

Using the ‘Sweep-able Mid’ controls. Mid-range is sweep-able from 600Hz to 2.4kHz and can be cut or boosted within this range. As a general rule we start out with all settings ‘flat’ then alter them to achieve the desired tone & presence based on the venue or recording environment. For example, an open, natural sound can be achieved by setting the frequency control at 1.4khz and the boost/cut control at 5db. Alternatively, for a ‘thick’ lead sound boost your mid's by 5db and set the frequency dial at 1.7kh.
