This 1964 Stratocaster "Closet Classic" from the Fender custom shop leaves little to be wished for out of a true iconic Stratocaster. The Stratocaster Closet Classic is a detailed recreation inside and out and fitted with all the features you could hope for. It has the Fender classic alder body, '60's C-shaped maple neck, and for the first time in it's history, a smaller truss rod and a Rosewood fingerboard with clay dot markers.
This Custom Shop reproduction of a 1964 Strat was built utilizing original tooling and production techniques of the era. This one looks like a real 53 year old guitar, that was built as if bought new in it's respective year, played a few times a year and then put carefully away. They all have a few small dings, a lightly checked finish, oxidized hardware and aged plastic parts.
The design of the pickups is faithful right down to the winding and materials, producing a smooth and familiar tone. The pickguard is a true 3 ply mint green type, the finish a "thinskin" Nitrocellulose lacquer in gorgeous "Vintage White".
Besides the normal marks from the factory, there are a small amount of fine scratches on the back of the instrument, however nothing else to distinguish this from new.
Fender Custom Shop instruments have been crafted for and with the input of the world's finest players—names like Clapton, Beck, Burton, Cray, Gilmour, Townshend and Vaughan, to name just a few. This one could be yours!
