Lowden S35 w/ Red Cedar & Walnut
In the early 1970s, George Lowden first started making guitars. By the 1980s, Lowden set up a fully-fledged factory in Northern Ireland, producing fewer than 1,000 guitars a year but competing at the high end of the market with sector leaders such as U.S. giants Martin, Taylor, and Guild. Recently Lowden has been able to recieve endorsements from some of the world's favorite musicians including pop star Ed Sheeran.
The Lowden team are real luthiers who build guitars by hand using Japanese chisels, planes, knives and spokeshaves. While it is much more economical to make guitars with assembly workers and machines, the choice lends understanding of wood and expertise. In so doing, the guitars feel and sound like individual works of art.
This 35 Series, 12-Fret is for the serious player who can appreciate a whole new world of subtle tone colours and dynamic range. This guitar features a Red Cedar top combined with Walnut back and sides. There's something special about the voice that's produced when you combine these two tonal woods together. The detail and clarity with every chord creates a symphony of overtones that has to be heard to be believed.
Additional appointments include Gotoh tuners, ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle and a Ebony peghead overlay with Lowden logo and a gorgeous Abalone rosette.
