Martin D 41 Sitka and Indian Rosewood
The Martin company has been run by the Martin family throughout its history. The current chairman and CEO, C.F. 'Chris' Martin IV, is the great-great-great-grandson of the founder. The firm was the first to introduce many of the characteristic features of the modern flattop, steel-strung acoustic guitar. Influential innovations include the Dreadnought body style and scalloped bracing.
The Martin D-41 is one of the more luxurious dreadnoughts from the Standard series. It is made of finest solid woods available to standard series. This instrument is constructed of solid East Indian rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. The D-41 has long been a favorite of artists. Massive bass response balanced with articulate highs makes this a benchmark acoustic guitar and a must-have for every guitarist of all skill levels.
Sitka is ideal for players who find Adirondack Red Spruce too punchy, bright, and stiff - but do not want to sacrifice on clarity. Sitka Spruce is a versatile topwood that accentuates the warm round aspects of the guitar's tone. The top end is sweet and crisp; with a driving, focused midrange and low-end. It strums with the best of them, but has a neck that flatpicks beautifully across the board.
The gorgeous set of Indian Rosewood on the back and sides broadens out the dynamic range, bringing overtone rich low-end and mellow yet defined trebles. When fingerpicking, each note is rich and warm, yet well defined and easily articulated.
This guitar is beautifully appointed including White boltaron binding, tortoise pickguard, the belly bridge and 20-fret fingerboard are made of ebony, while the low profile neck is made of Mahogany. The enclosed tuners on this model are plated in gold. A gorgeous abalone inlay along the top, and rosette, a Style 45 backstripe, hexagonal abalone fingerboard markers from the First to the 15th fret, bound peghead, vertical pearl logo and low profile neck with volute.
This instrument is in Good Condition with light surface scratches on the top and back. There are also a few very light scratches on the face of the headstock. There is also a deeper scratch on the bottom of the top of the guitar. see photos posted below.
