1954 Martin D-28 Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood ID-5333
1954 Martin D-28 Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood
We couldn't be happier to present this vintage 1954 Martin D-28 in all it's glory. Brazilian and Adirondack, full of all the scratches and dings any good old Martin should have... and most importantly, the massive woody tone these early Martin's are famous for!
This D-28 was built with an Adirondack Spruce top. That is rare for this year, as most of the 50's era Martins utilized a Sitka top. Adirondack is unmatched in it's stiffness to weight ratio and provides an instantly recognizable high end. It can withstand the heaviest of pick attacks. The Adirondack on this guitar has aged nearly 60 years and is woody and warm. This is a quality that only time can give an instrument.
Brazilian Rosewood is the back tonewood used on this incredible vintage guitar. Brazilian is without argument the most sought after tonewood. This is due to its rich, blooming sound and clear, defined treble. One strum of this instrument and you can instantly hear the sound all of our guitar heroes have made famous over the years.
This guitar is nearly impossible to put down once you start playing it. Not only does the sound live up to the legendary mystique. It feels very comfortable in your hands as well. The back of the neck is well played and exhibits a true vintage satin feel.
This guitar has had some work done over the years. The top was refinished, the pickguard, bridge, and nut were replaced. The bridge plate was repaired, and the neck has been reset. As the pictures will show, the guitar is well worn. However, it is still in great playing condition and ready to hit the stage or studio. The finish is beautifully checked throughout, as expected.
