1979 Fender Stratocaster Sienna Sunburst

This 1979 Fender Stratocaster Sienna Sunburst has some dents and scratches as expected from a vintage instrument. It sas been re-finished and has overspray on top and back. Additionally, the center pickup has been repaired by Lindy Fralin. We have attempted to capture the wear in the detailed photos below. It has moderate fretwear. Original hardshell case is included with purchase.

Leo Fender, invented the iconic Telecaster and the Stratocaster. In early 1965 he decided to sell his company to CBS. Owing to the brand's success, Fender continues to make versions of these venerable instruments to this very day! In the 70's Fender changed from the 4 bolt neck plates to 3 bolt neck, larger Headstocks, "Bullet" Truss rods which set these years apart from other years.

The Stratocaster was a modern design that had a fully contoured Ash body and two "wings" that were reminiscent of the cars of the day. These wings allowed for easier access to the upper frets on both the treble and bass strings. It had a fully usable vibrato tailpiece that allowed for accurate bending of notes, and three pickups so that musicians could tailor the guitar to their individuality. Leo also had the presence of mind to use a "bolt-on" neck, rather than a traditional mortise and tenon joint, that made changing the neck, if need be, an easy task.

As previously mentioned, the new "Bullet" truss rod allowed for easier access to the truss rod, so that you no longer had to remove the neck to adjust the truss rod. Also included was a new improved micro-tilt adjustment for neck angle. The famous Fender Logo was now on an oversize headstock, which was instantaneously recognizable from the thinner, smaller headstocks of the 50's. Instead of a single string tree, you now would find two, one for the G&D and one for the E&B.
