1990 Fender HMT Bass ID-8510
1990 Fender HMT Bass
The Fender HMT bass was a Fender instrument along with the HMT Tele that was made in Japan in the early 90's. This is a wonderful example of a semi acoustic bass guitar from the folks at Fender. HMT stands for 'Heavy Metal', which accounts for the more unusual headstock style for a Fender. These days everything old is new again, the Fender HMT Bass is a rare find indeed. This is the fretted model featuring a Semi-Hollow body with flamed maple top. The most distinguishing feature would have to be the triangular sharkstooth inlays on the rosewood fretboard with the angled headstock.
The HMT has a Lace p-bass pickup along with an unbuffered piezo bridge pickup for the ultimate in tone control. Very light, but well balanced, the neck on the bass is jazz width and very slim. The 3 Controls on the instrument are as follows: Volume, Tone and a Pickup blend to allow for mixing some of the piezo pickup sound with the Lace pickup.
This particular 1990 Fender HMT Bass is in excellent condition. Very few scratches to the top, side, back and headstock can be viewed in the detailed images below. It has very minor fretwear and comes with the Original Fender Hardshell Case.
