1993 Guild Artist Award Archtop Spruce and Maple

The Guild Artist Award is Guild's flagship jazz guitar, produced until the Westerly, Rhode Island plant closed it's doors in 2001. The Artist Award is an acoustic archtop built of the finest materials including a carved solid spruce top, hand carved fiddleback flamed maple back and sides, a five-piece, highly figured tiger flamed maple neck with a select ebony fretboard and distinctive inlays of natural abalone and mother of pearl which combine to make the Artist Award a work of art to both ear and eye.

A floating pickup allows the Artist Award to be amplified without interfering with the true acoustic nature of this masterpiece. Guild's most experienced and skilled craftsmen are chosen to work on the Artist Award. In the 40-year history of Guild, only 1,600 Artist Awards have been made, making this fine instrument not only a great-sounding and beautiful instrument, but a substantial collector's item as well. No words can describe what must be experienced--this certainly applies to the Artist Award!

Aside from a few small dings on the top of the guitar, included in the detail photographs below, this instrument is in beautiful shape for it's 1993 build date! The all original Gold plated hardware has no discoloration from the exquisite engraved gold plated tailpiece to the Gold Grover Imperial tuners. The gorgeous spruce top has nicely ambered over the years and beckons you to play "Moonlight in Vermont". There are some scratches on the front of the headstock, also shown in the photographs. This guitar includes the original hardshell case along with a small dog case cover.
