2001 Fender YJM Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster Candy Apple Red
From the very start in 1946, Fender has always worked hand in hand with the artists who put its instruments to such great use. It’s a time-honored tradition that continues stronger than ever today with many instruments that bear the names of the world’s greatest and most influential guitarists and bassists. Fender artist models are built to their distinctive specifications—often with their participation and personal input— so that their sound can be part of your sound, too. Check out the specs on this Fender YJM.
With his unique and often dizzying marriage of heavy rock and Paganini-esque classically inspired technique, Yngwie Malmsteen has been universally regarded for years as a truly innovative electric guitar virtuoso. Amazingly, he is a self-taught guitarist.
Born Lars Johann Yngve Lannerback in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1963, Malmsteen showed little interest in music as a child. But when the 7-year-old saw a TV special about Jimi Hendrix in 1970, something awakened (or perhaps ignited) inside him; as an adult, Malmsteen referred to the day Hendrix died as the day “the guitar-playing Yngwie was born.”
This fantastic Artist Series Yngwie Strat features a solid alder body, modern "C" shape maple neck, and Yngwie's signature scalloped maple fretboard with Dunlop 6000 Super-Jumbo frets for a playing experience as fast as you are! In addition to the Swedish shred maestro's trademark scalloped fretboard, theYngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster guitar has a unique pickup combination with two DiMarzio YJM pickups in the neck and middle positions, and one DiMarzio HS-3 Stack in the bridge position. Other features include a large 70s headstock, original synchronized tremolo and aged plastic parts.
This guitar incorporates the popular "Buzz Feiten" tuning system. The architecture of his system makes it possible to tune guitars and basses more accurately, resulting in more accurate tonality of notes played on the lowest 3 or 4 frets, which otherwise frequently play out-of-tune compared to notes played on the rest of the neck.
The standard brass nut has been replaced with a buzz feiten tuning nut and the strap buttons are missing. It is in overall excellent condition with only a few minor scratches and dents as shown in the detailed photos below. It has minor fretwear and includes the original hardshell case.
