2002 Bourgeois Slope D Sitka Spruce and Mahogany with Sunburst Finish

Bourgeois slope shouldered dreadnoughts are only about 1/4" wider than a standard dreadnought... and what a difference! Voiced for a more open, less driving sound than the Country Boy models, the Slope D accommodates a wide variety of playing styles ranging from country to pop covering nearly everything in between. Fingerstyle players love the increased response that the Bourgeois Slope D provides, even when played with bare fingers!

This Slope D features a Sitka Spruce top. Sitka is ideal for players who find Adirondack Red Spruce too punchy, bright, and stiff - but do not want to sacrifice on clarity. Sitka Spruce is a versatile topwood that accentuates the warm round aspects of the guitar's tone. The top end is sweet and crisp; with a driving, focused midrange and low-end.

It strums with the best of them, but has a neck that flatpicks beautifully across the board. The Mahogany back and sides keep your lead lines clear and distinct, just like the classic flatpicking recordings we've grown to love from players like Clarence White, Doc Watson, and Norman Blake.

This guitar was built with Adirondack top bracing, as are all of Dana's guitars. The sonic benefits can't be ignored, adding not only responsiveness, but a new level of detail and clarity. The Adirondack Bracing helps to stiffen the top, making it that much more powerful with more headroom and overall volume.

The tone of this guitar is extremely balanced, with a dry, clear note definition and a presence that only Sitka Spruce and Mahogany can offer. This guitar practically begs to be placed in front of a microphone... those vintage tones you have heard on recordings for years is right at your fingertips. Mahogany offers a midrange that historically requires little eq in the recording studio and has become one of the most popular tonewoods for anyone looking for a balanced recording tone that starts with the guitar.

This 2002 Bourgeois Slope D Sitka Spruce and Mahogany with Sunburst Finish is in excellent condition with just a few minor surface scratches, on the top, back, sides and headstock. We have attempted to capture most of the wear in the detailed photos below. It has very minor fretwear, and includes the original hardshell case.
