2004 Gretsch G6122 1959 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman

The Gretsch G6122 1959 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman is a single-cutaway slice of history! Designed in cooperation with Chet Atkins’ longtime rhythm guitarist and close friend, Paul Yandell. The G6122-1959 Country Gentleman® precisely replicates the world’s most famous ’59 6122 model. This model was one of Chets' personal favorite guitars.

This electric guitar features include a three-piece maple neck with an ebony fingerboard and mother-of-pearl Neo Classic™ thumbnail inlays. Other features include Zero Fret, Simulated F-Holes, Bound Fingerboard and Headstock. This guitar also features Multiple Body Bindings, Gold-Plated Name Plate on Headstock, Gold Plexi Pickguard, Knurled Strap Retainer Knobs, Adjustable Truss Rod and Ebony-Based "Rocking" Bar bridge. Bigsby® B6GW Vibrato Tailpiece with a Bigsby® "Wire" Style Handle.

The pickups consist of a Supertron Classic in the neck position and a Plus HT in the bridge position. There are two knobs on the lower treble bout, a tone control and a volume-cut for the bridge pickup. A master volume on the upper treble bout and a pickup switch on the upper bass bout complete the electrical controls. The volume cut for the bridge pickup seems to be the key for reproducing Chet's timbre. Just a little roll-off with that control and you are sounding like Mr. Guitar himself.

This 2004 Gretsch G6122 1959 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman is in excellent condition. It sports only a few dents and surface scratches. We have attempted to capture in the detailed photos below. It has very minor fretwear and includes the original hardshell case.
