2004 Guild X550P Limited Edition Archtop Dave Gonzales Signature Model ID-5541
2004 Guild X550P Limited Edition Archtop Dave Gonzales Signature Model
The Guild X550P is an extremely rare archtop. It was made as a signature model for guitarist Dave Gonzales. Dave Gonzales is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Southern California, and with Thomas Yearsley. Yearsley was the founding member of the roots rockabilly band The Paladins in the early 1980s, and then co-founder with Chris Gaffney of the Hacienda Brothers.
The X550P is Guild's top of the line archtop featuring a spruce top and select curly maple body. The pickups are 2 Seymour Duncan Antiquity single coil pickups. A 5 piece maple neck, ebony fretboard and frets that have just been laser leveled by a Plek machine by Glaser Instruments. As a result it plays extremely smooth and fast... no high frets on this guitar!
Finishing touches such as a special pallidan truss rod cover, pearl and abalone block inlays, bound headstock, bound "F" holes, and a Bigsby tailpiece make this guitar a very classy instrument. The serial number is 002... the 2nd guitar they produced under this model designation.
This guitar has a few dings on the top, and some scratches on the upper bout. These are pictured in the detail photographs. There are some scratches on the headstock, also photographed. There is some oxidation on the tuning hardware, as well as the tailpiece and tremolo bar. Hardshell case included.
