2006 Bourgeois Banjo Killer - Bearclaw Sitka Spruce and Figured Mahogany - Played and Signed by Bryan Sutton
One of the longest running challenges for the bluegrass guitar player has been being heard over one of the loudest acoustic instruments on earth, the banjo... until now! The Bourgeois Banjo Killer features a slightly larger body size than a standard dreadnought and when combined with the bearclaw spruce, makes for an incredibly loud and powerful instrument.
"From the first time I played the Slope-D Bourgeois that would come to be known as the "Banjo Killer," I was amazed at the range of tone and volume the guitar could produce. The guitar always seems to be to able to handle any dynamic level of play.
I can hear the guitar clearly in a loud jam session without feeling like I have to overplay and also enjoy a full and sustained tone when I want to play softly. Dana has recaptured that magic with the new BK model." - Bryan Sutton
The Bourgeois Banjo Killer slope dreadnought has a deep, broad tone. Through careful wood selection and masterful voicing, he has pushed the tone of a slope dreadnought in the direction of a bigger bottom end and a lush top end with maximum volume, similar to Bryan's original Banjo Killer.
This particular guitar is Banjo Killer #4 and was personally played, approved, and signed by Bryan Sutton. The first half-dozen or so of these BK models were all personally played by Bryan to ensure they met his approval. Due to overwhelming popularity, Dana later decided to make it a full time model.
The tone of this guitar is larger than life with a growl that only a Banjo Killer is capable of. The exquisite bearclaw Sitka top can hold up to just about any level of playing without a hint of breakup, meaning this guitar can play loud... quite loud! Fingerstyle players shouldn't be afraid, however, as this guitar is highly responsive with light playing as well, offering a rich sustaining tone just like Bryan heard in his original Banjo Killer.
This guitar is difficult to distinguish from new, with only a few very minor finish scratches from normal playing. Hardshell case included.
