2006 Goodall Traditional OM with Bear Claw Sitka Spruce and Mahogany ID-6802
2006 Goodall Traditional OM with Bear Claw Sitka Spruce and Mahogany
James Goodall represents an artisan who is at the pinnacle of his profession. Superb craftsmanship, an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, combined with robust, three dimensional sound character -- these are qualities which embody every James Goodall guitar. This 2006 Goodall Traditional OM is in excellent condition. It has very minor fretwear and includes the original hardshell case.
Few who endeavor in musical instrument making are capable of consistently maintaining a high level of precision and excellence along with superior tonal character in every instrument. Discerning eyes and ears will find the substance of all these qualities in every James Goodall instrument.
The OM is the second model in the Traditional series instruments. It features a smaller, more comfortable to hold body size than the popular dreadnought body shape. Its description is not unlike its bigger brother, the Traditional Dreadnought model.
Its tone is extremely powerful in the bass and midrange with an emphasis on a broad warmth without lacking treble. The Traditional model features a custom, partial scalloped bracing pattern which produces a bit more 'boominess' in the bass and midrange.

The peghead and bridge have been redesigned for a more conservative look and Waverly tuning machines are a standard feature. It is nicely trimmed with a herringbone rosette and herringbone top purfling with a chevron marquetry backstrip. It is especially built for the flatpicker and bluegrass style players.
This instrument features a Bear Claw Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides. Sitka Spruce, for its weight, it's one of the strongest woods in the world. Color range from light yellow to medium orange. Usually exhibits fairly strong silking (medullary rays). Best if medium gauge strings are used but good for light gauge also. It has possibly the best balance between the bass, midrange and treble. It has a strong fundamental but also a midrange brightness. Loud, but not the loudest for fingerstyle. Doesn't break up when flatpicked hard.
The Mahogany back and sides are perfect for players who find rosewood too boomy. Lead players will appreciate the enhanced note definition and clarity, especially through the midrange frequencies.
This guitar is beautifully appointed with a herrinbone top purfling, ivoroid bindings, ebony fretboard and bridge, herringbone rosette, multi-colored back strip and nickle Waverly open gear tuners with ivoroid buttons.
