2007 Santa Cruz OME PW Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood

In the 1920's, the Orchestra Model was originally intended to be a large guitar capable of being heard over other orchestral instruments, hence the OM name. Although it fit the bill, its relatively large body was soon eclipsed by the mighty dreadnought. Fortunately, the Santa Cruz OM had secured its place in history as a powerful and versatile voice for public performance.

Santa Cruz was among the first modern builders to reintroduce this now smaller bodied favorite at the beginning of the Eighties. Their practice of combining the most desirable attributes of old and new, rather than copying, made for a very successful introduction of the Santa Cruz Guitar Company to a whole new audience.

The OM E Pre-War Model is designed with many of the features in bracing and tone that the emerging singer-songwriter, the working musician, or a serious amateur will find desirable at a price before unheard of in guitars of this caliber. The Santa Cruz OM/PW is always a shop favorite... it sounds so good and responds so well, players never want to put it down.

The E Series came to being largely as a result of a fundamental change in factory production techniques which resulted in substantial savings for The Santa Cruz Guitar Company. These savings were then passed directly on to the end user in the form of the low cost E Series.

The E series was specifically designed for the European market rather than the domestic US Market just before the PW line was introduced. The design aim was to produce high quality guitars up to the very specific high standards which are part of the Santa Cruz philosophy.

This OME/PW features a Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides. This is a powerful combination of tonewoods that produces a rich, full sound. Sitka Spruce is a perfect topwood for many playing styles, in that it is stiff enough to flatpick while soft enough for fingerstyle players as well. When combined with rosewood back and sides, bass is rich and full with natural reverb like overtones.

The gorgeous set of Indian Rosewood on the back and sides broadens out the dynamic range, bringing overtone rich low-end and mellow yet defined trebles. When fingerpicking, each note is rich and warm, yet well defined and easily articulated.

This guitar is in excellent + condition with just has a few surface scratches on the pickguard, top and back which we attempted to capture in the detailed photos below. It has very minor fretwear and includes the original Ameritage hardshell case.
