2009 Bourgeois Custom Advanced Slope D with Adirondack and Indian Rosewood ID-7321
2009 Bourgeois Custom Advanced Slope D with Adirondack and Indian Rosewood
There have been many interpretations of the slope shoulder dreadnought throughout the years. While we've encountered many different designs and adaptations throughout the years, Dana Bourgeois' take is by far one of the best! Knowing the research, effort, and determination Dana has to be ever improving - there is little wonder why this guitar tops our list! This 2009 Bourgeois Custom Advanced Slope D with Adirondack and Indian Rosewood has a few light surface scratches and dents which we attempted to capture in the detailed photographs below. It has very minor fretwear and includes the original hardshell case.
Bourgeois' Advanced Slope D is only about 1/4" wider than their standard dreadnought, but the difference is incredible! Voiced for a more open and airy sound than a square shoulder dread, the Advanced Slope D is capable of a variety of styles - from bluegrass (look to Bryan Sutton and his Bourgeois) to fingerstyle blues to pop rhythms.
This guitar features an Adirondack Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides. Adirondack spruce, also known as Eastern Red Spruce, was the legendary topwood used on most pre-war American-made guitars.
Properly sawn, Adirondack is much stiffer than Sitka and Engelmann spruce, both along and across the grain. This allows builders to make thinner, lighter tops, resulting in lightning-quick response with power to spare.
Indian Rosewood provides a deep, extended low end when compared to mahogany and certainly shines when combined with Dana's masterfully tuned Adirondack top. The result is a Vintage D that is very loud and extremely well balanced.
The low end is clear, distinct and incredibly powerful, without sacrificing the strong high end. Headroom seems unlimited, very typical of Dana Bourgeois dreadnoughts... the louder it is strummed the louder it plays! Lead lines are powerful and clear.
Dynamic, broad, and bellowing; the Advanced Slope D is a store favorite!
