2010 Huss and Dalton TDR with Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Hot Hide Glue Construction

This Huss and Dalton TD-R is everything you'd expect a high end Brazilian Rosewood guitar to be... and then some. Huss and Dalton's Traditional flattop series brings the best of the past to the present. As is true with all of the instruments Huss and Dalton offers, the T-DR show a reverence and respect for past builders, but with a passion for ingenuity.

The back and sides of this TD-R feature the legendary Brazilian species of Rosewood. Brazilian is considered the "Holy Grail" of tonewoods and it certainly lives up to the legend on this guitar from Huss and Dalton. We instantly noticed the rich low end this guitar is capable of and fell in love with the tone with just a few G-Chord strums. While maintaining a strong, powerful low end, there is a sparkle on the upper end not found on Indian Rosewood guitars making the tone very clear and distinct. This powerful guitar offers plenty of oomph needed to get over a string band while keeping your lead lines thick and meaty. We opted for a custom Adirondack Red Spruce top, which brings richness, punch, and complex overtones with virtually unlimited headroom. Huss and Dalton chose an exceptional set for this guitar featuring a nice wide grained pattern. Adirondack is ideal for flatpickers or players who play with a heavy attack and need the most volume and power possible.

Another clear advantage to Huss and Dalton's guitars are their use of Adirondack for top bracing. Adirondack has a greater strength-to-weight ratio than other brace woods, thus allowing for a more efficient transfer of energy through the top, making the entire guitar more responsive. An additional custom option on this TD-R is the use of Hot Hide Glue on the top bracing. Hot Hide Glue sets up hard, like glass, further increasing the efficiency of tone transfer through the top. Hide Glue is very difficult and messy to work with, but the tonal benefits make it worth the extra effort and we could not imagine this Huss without it.

This guitar is difficult to distinguish from new, with only a few very light finish scratches that could not be photographed... a few on the pickguard area, one on the side, and a few on the back. There is some light finish hazing on the headstock that we believe was from the factory. Original tweed hardshell case included.
