Collings C-10 Mahogany with Walnut Stain

We are always discussing what options and features we can pit against different models to make the ideal guitar for every style. When the stylings of folk, blues, and americana players from Honeyboy Edwards to Nick Drake - small bodied mahogany guitars always come up. The bright, woody, and crisp tone that incapsulates so many of those records would not be the same without mahogany's signature sound. This incredible custom Collings C-10 has been rolling around my mind for some time, and low and behold - a brand new custom version walks in our door! Let's become acquainted, shall we?

The Collings C10 is built with a similar narrow waist and small upper bout; resulting in a precise, focused response. The smaller upper bout is gratifying and untroubled - a true dream to play. It's this unique body size that allows the C-10 to project a more focused mid-range then other smaller bodied guitars. This mid-range is combined with a crisp low-end and rounded, mellow trebles. The beauty of Collings' mahogany tops is their open breath and incredible responsiveness. Overall, focus and clarity are the key qualities of this guitar. The top end has an incredible definition and brightness, without sacrificing or overpowering the mid-range. Really, the mid-range focus is what makes this guitar shine. It's perfect for Piedmont blues or folksy strumming. The shortened scale makes for breezy bends and effortless fretting. Of all of Collings acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile. All and all, we can't speak highly enough of this guitar. Those of you who know what Collings does with mahogany can testify - these are a keeper!
