Collings C10 Mahogany with Herringbone and No Tongue Brace

This gorgeous Collings C10 features a Mahogany top combined with Mahogany back and sides. This is an absolutely wonderful sounding instrument. The Mahogany top provides for more sustain, slower attack, as you would expect from a heavier top. Mahogany tops make for a friendly, sweet guitar that does not amplify mistakes. The Mahogany back and sides are perfect for players who find rosewood too boomy. Lead players will appreciate the enhanced note definition and clarity, especially through the midrange frequencies.

While you won't read it on Collings' website, the C-10 is very similar to the Gibson L-00 of old. It is built with a similar narrow waist and small upper bout; resulting in a precise, focused response. The smaller upper bout is gratifying and a true dream to play. It's this unique body size that allows the C-10 to project a more focused mid-range then other smaller bodied guitars. This mid-range is combined with a crisp low-end and rounded, mellow trebles.

Of all of Collings’ acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile. This guitar excels at fingerstyle playing while also providing great projection and depth when strummed and flatpicked. The all-mahogany construction provides a clear, woody, dry and airy tone that is very balanced and smooth thanks to the masterful voicing.

This guitar was built with the absence of a tongue brace. This allows the upper portion of the top to resonate a bit more freely, giving a small push in support to this guitar's projective qualities.

This custom C-10 is, in our opinion, perfectly appointed. The body is bound with ivoroid style bindings, with a tortoise pickguard and finished off with a high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish and herringbone purfling. Additionally, the upgraded Nickel Waverly Tuners with ebony buttons top off a classy, elegant instrument.

The C10 model offers a welcome alternative for those looking for a smaller guitar that really separates itself from all the rest!
