Collings C10 Sitka Spruce and Walnut
Based on guitars first introduced around the same time as the OM, the Collings C10 is a leaner alternative, with the narrow waist and small upper bout resulting in a precise, focused response. Of all our acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile.
The small oval neck heel is ideally suited to the optional cutaway, which allows unrestricted access to the upper frets. With its unique shape and asymmetrical headstock's lines echoed in the curvilinear pickguard, C10 models offer a welcome alternative for those who find that most small acoustic guitars look too much alike.
The Collings C10 comes standard with a Sitka Spruce top. Sitka is ideal for players who find Adirondack Red Spruce too punchy, bright, and stiff - but do not want to sacrifice on clarity. Sitka Spruce is a versatile topwood that accentuates the warm round aspects of the guitar's tone. The top end is sweet and crisp; with a driving, focused midrange and low-end. It strums with the best of them, but has a neck that flatpicks beautifully across the board. There is a reason Colling's are revered for their C10's!
The custom Walnut back and sides is absolutely gorgeous and sounds phenomenal. Walnut has a similar density and stiffness to koa, with similar initial tightness. It tends to have a bright top end, but with a more present midrange, somewhere between mahogany and rosewood. Tonally, Walnut rivals the best Indian Rosewood in terms of overtones but it retains a stronger mid range and a fundamental. It also has fantastic projection, which is within the realms of a mahogany guitar. Walnut also starts off a little deeper on the low end, initially giving it a slightly woodier sound than koa which continues to fill out after being played.
This guitar is perfect for players who like a blend of brightness, projection and warm overtones. Flatpickers and strummers on a larger body with a spruce top will find ample horsepower, low end and crisp highs to support a more aggressive attack.
This Pre-Owned Guitar is in Excellent Condition w/ only a couple light scratches on the pickguard.
