Collings CJ Custom Sitka Spruce and Mahogany Faded Cherre
The Collings Jumbo, or CJ, is Collings' version of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought, a shape that has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. While the Collings CJ is similar in width and depth to the traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different tone. Of all the Collings body shapes, this model guitar is the one most often requested with a custom finish. The faded cherry finish w/ white pickguard gives off a very vintage retro vibe; combine that with the classic mahogany sound and you have a really special one of a kind instrument.
The topwood on this guitar is Sitka Spruce, which is very versatile and known for it's lush bass response and easy playability. The back and sides are mahogany, which produces clear and distinct notes and is very well appreciated in the recording studio, as it is known to be a bit more balanced in front of a microphone than rosewood.
Collings makes guitars with such superb tone and aesthetics. The craftmanship is top notch and comes out in the tone, playability, and feel of their great instrument. This guitar is truly a great one to add to any players collection.
