Collings CJ Guitar Adirondack top and Indian Rosewood back and sides with No Tongue Brace
The Collings Jumbo, or CJ, is Collings' version of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought, a shape that has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. While the Collings CJ is similar in width and depth to the traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different tone.
Despite its large size this model works well with the optional shorter string scale, resulting in a somewhat percussive bottom end ideal for acoustic blues or other styles that benefit from a more controlled bass response. Of all the Collings body shapes, this is the one most often requested with a sunburst top finish, as this guitar beautifully demonstrates.
Modeled closely after a pre-war J45, the topwood on this guitar is Adirondack, which is the legendary wood used at the pre-war time, and known for it's strength, it's clear precise note definition, and volume. The back and sides are Indian Rosewood, which produces a warm and lush.. yet clear and distinct tone.
The custom appointments on this already wonderful guitar include a custom 1 3/4" nut width, a Flourish headstock inlay and the absence of a Tongue Brace. Hardshell case is included.
