Collings OM1ESS Engelmann Spruce Short Scale
'OM' stands for "Orchestra Model," but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the Collings build style results in balanced tone and an immediate response with a much larger bottom end than is generally found on OM sized guitars. The mahogany back and sides keep lead lines clear and distinct, and with an Engelmann Spruce top, is very warm, rich and powerful.
Engelmann Spruce is softer than Sitka Spruce, offering a much more responsive tone with a lighter pick attack. Fingerstyle players especially love the way Engelmann responds to their particular style of playing, projecting ample volume with minimal attack. With the custom short scale offering, this guitar is virtually effortless to play and very hard to put down once you start playing.
