‘OM’ stands for “Orchestra Model,” but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Flatpickers find it very appealing with virtually unlimited headroom and power when you need it.
The compact shape makes the Collings OM2H equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch. The tone is focused and powerful, as are all Collings' guitars.
The topwood on this guitar is Baked Sitka Spruce, paired with rosewood back and sides. When torrefied, Sitka Spruce becomes very open and responsive. It's noticeably warmer and more-open sounding, with the woodiness, snap and depth of a well played-in guitar. A joy to play, and a fingerpicker's..or flatpicker's dream guitar.
When combined with rosewood on the back and sides, Sitka is very lush and has a warm, rich low end. The highs are also crystal clear on a Collings, since only the highest grade Sitka Spruce is chosen for their instruments.
This guitar has a long list of superb appointments that really set it apart. It features A baked Sitka top, No Tongue Brace, 1 23/32" Nut Width, Grained Ivoroid Bound Fingerboard, and an Ebony Headstock Veneer.
Aside from being a very attractive guitar to look at, this Collings OM2H plays great and sounds exceptional...true to Collings form.
Hardshell Case Included.
