Collings D1A Adirondack and Mahogany with No Tongue Brace Pre-Owned 2014

If your looking for a traditional mahogany square shouldered dreadnought it is hard to compete with this Pre Owned D1A. A full rich crisp tone seems to leap out of this guitar from the moment your flat pick touches the string. This is a result of both the build style of Collings and the select wood that was chosen for this instrument.

Collings is know for building guitar with great big voices that project unlike anything else on the market. This is defiantly true for this D1A! By building every guitar individually they are able to take each piece of wood into consideration and build incredible sounding instruments time and time again.

Adirondack Spruce drives the top of this guitar and provides ample power and headroom for heavy handed flatpickers while the absence of a tongue brace frees the top to allow enhanced vibration and results in a richer, fuller, tone with more low end resonance.

As people search for the mythical tone of old guitars, the tongue brace comes into scrutiny. Martin added the tongue brace in 1940 and it has become standard every since. This is a great feature for players who may be looking for a compromise between the mahogany and rosewood dreadnoughts. It is speculated that Martin added the brace to prevent top cracking,
but the years have proven this to have been unnecessary and actually decreases resonation.

Other Custom appointments to this guitar include Adirondack Bracing, Vintage Now neck profile with 1 3/4" nut width, Cutthrough Saddle and Nickel Waverly 4060 tuners.

This guitar is in excellent Condition with only some light dings and scratches on the top and sides.

Includes Original Hardshell Case.
